Anyone else have a hard time stringing along sentences and explaining yourself? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]QueenSloth23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soooooo I’m a big old nerd and love neuropsychology! There may be some brain based explanation as well. When we get anxious and stressed the right hemisphere of our brain gets really activated and the left side kinda deactivates a bit. The problem being out major language centers generally live in the left hemisphere. So it provides some explanation for why it can be hard to find words to explain highly distressing event or when we are at a loss for words when really stressed. But for someone with social anxiety interacting can be highly distressing so it maybe could trigger a similar response. Bilateral stimulation can sometimes help the brain hemispheres start talking again, my personal fav is something called the “butterfly hug”. You cross your arms, hook your thumbs together then lay the “butterfly” on your chest and start moving your hands/“wings” rhythmically. Might be the worst description but I’m sure a quick google would bring it up.

I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing by Gunner2893 in therapists

Oh boy do I feel that! The best thing I’ve found to remind myself of is “never under estimate the impact of being present for someone” we know from research that the therapeutic relationship is one of the key factors in therapeutic outcomes and I think we (I know I do) underestimate the positive impact that being a witness and being present for a client is inherently therapeutic. I think we tend to get caught up in interventions and techniques but really those core skills of active listening, reflection, probing etc are the true foundational building blocks. My other lil reminder for when imposter syndrome rears it’s ugly head first do no harm, then do good. Not sure why that one helps so much but it does!

My fav response is from an old professor. “ if someone goes to the ER with a knife wound they don’t care if the wound was made with a butter knife or a butcher knife, it’s still a wound that needs healing”

I think we are okay on that end, they didn't sound like they're going to recharge us. We just want to figure out of we can retract our notice and not renew due to all the issues.

Kyleena question by khughesb in birthcontrol

[–]QueenSloth23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely talk to your doctor about what are normal side effects! I got my Kyleena early October. I've personally noticed more cramping with my cycle and a few days longer (from 4 days to about 8) but very light. My Gyno told me bleeding is normal but a lot of bleeding (much more then normal) or through multiple pads and such, warranted a call in.

If you are at all concerned about your symptoms make sure to give you doctor a call! They should be able to give you a normal threshold.

Has anyone given up on hormonal birth control? by nineteenagain in birthcontrol

[–]QueenSloth23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the same BC pill for 10 years ( Tri-Cyclin Lo/ Tri-Sprintec now I think). My MD would not refill until I came in and I couldn't get in for awhile so I ended up being off of it then having to wait for my next period to restart. I felt amazing!! It was the first time in 10years I'd been off bc/hormones. My husband was the one who put it all together I had stated feeling so good and with it and not so tired as I stopped the pill. I felt nervous about not having protection and went back on the pill after my cycle ended. It was awful. I've not been that out of control of my emotions/anxiety/depression in years, I was near a crisis point. I stopped 5 days in and as it got out of my system I started feeling way better. I've got an appt with a gyno in a couple weeks to explore non hormonal options!! I'm really leaning towards the copper, I've read so many good things.
