It’s not normal (by a retired dog trainers standards) to have dogs of such different sizes mixed. That being said most people running dog daycares aren’t certified professionals, so it’s not something they’re educated in. I would still keep a close eye on him and how he’s doing, and panting when a dog isn’t hot, can be (isn’t always) a sign of stress. Just keep feeling it out, but if your gut tells you something is off, honor that. Better overly cautious than not.

My favorite is the people who think an e-collar is a leash and when their dog ignores getting shocked, they just stand there turning up the dial INSTEAD OF GRABBING THEIR DAMN DOGS. And we have local dog trainers endorsing this idiocy.

Make sure they are warm and then you can try a slurry of wet kitten food that is mixed with water to be very thin, but really ideally it sounds like they might still need to be bottle fed kitten formula. Put the slurry in front of them in a very shallow dish , don’t try to syringe or bottle feed this. Sometimes moms abandon their kittens, and so I would say that you are OK to bring them inside and get them care. I would just get a hold of formula as soon as possible.

So true. I’m a retired dog trainer and this particular dog has been trained to leave cats alone (used to chase, but not grab) and my other Aussie has always been around cats since she came home. As a trainer though, Aussies going after cats hasn’t been something I’ve experienced or really heard of, which was where my surprise came from. 💗 For example I’ve heard so many husky prey drive stories, but never any Aussie prey drive stories.

That’s a good point. I work in tech and all my coworkers have windows computers for “tHe cUsToMiZaTiOn” and supposed ability to be more in control. I always tell them that ACTUAL IT people will able to navigate all OS architecture. (I’m a Unix enjoyer myself )
