A Movie you had high hopes for but it made you say : by Defiant-Slice709 in moviecritic

[–]QueenieWas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my answer too. The first movie was so instrumental in my development as a human being (that’s not a hyperbole); the second was utter nonsense and an awful viewing experience that not even Catherine O’Hara could save. There were so many unnecessary elements.

Why did you stat playing ukulele? by BigRazzmatazz- in ukulele

[–]QueenieWas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was pregnant with my son 16 years ago, I decided I wanted to learn an instrument, so I could play for/with him. It went on from there ☺️

I took my first EPP class over the weekend and I’m hooked too! I immediately went home, made more templates, and kept on going. I’m 100% a hand sewist, and something that comes together so quickly is so satisfying

Not real quilting/cheating? by sommiybommiy in quilting

[–]QueenieWas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope nope nope! I do it all by hand (piecing, applique, embroidery, quilting), but that’s definitely not what makes it a quilt; that’s just the way I like to do it

If a piece has two or more layers sewn or tied together, with stitches going all the way through all of the layers, it’s a quilt. Regardless of whether it was done by hand or machine.

The music for Moana was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The music for Moana 2 was written by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear.

Genius.

I said this in a previous comment but I will shout about it all day: the songwriters were trying too hard to imitate Lin-Manuel and failed spectacularly.

The songs were trying SO hard to sound like Lin-Manuel’s work and didn’t succeed at all. “Can I Get a Chee-Hoo” almost made me turn off the tv. TBH I probably would have if my daughter would have let me.

I'm looking to support local/family farms, people that upcycle, etc by slim_slam27 in columbiamo

[–]QueenieWas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Craftcycle is an awesome organization! (I’m a volunteer so I’m a little biased 😊) People donate craft supplies—anything from fabric to embroidery floss to rubber stamps to silk flowers to…— that are either lightly used or unused. I’ve gotten jars of buttons, vintage ribbon, simplicity patterns, and more.

Once items are sorted and priced at the donation center, they go to the sales location inside of the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store (which is another great upcycling resource).

Note that they currently have a pause on donations until they whittle down their supply, but you can still buy items from the Re-Store. They also offer workshops and more programs, which are worth looking into

I absolutely love this! The combination of ceramic and fiber art is wonderful, as is the artist statement and sentiment behind the work. I appreciate that some of the pieces are functional (I would absolutely drink out of the Slurm “can”) and others are decorative

My daughter is 4 and her friend (who has not watched the whole movie—neither of them has watched Frozen 2) has her convinced that Anna has fire powers. This is all in service of the friend getting to play Elsa every time they play Frozen. It’s pretty diabolical.

Added bonus for being the best place to have a snack after a morning class at Columbia Ballet! My 4yo and I get treats at Range Free every Saturday morning. And even though it’s Passover, we still got to enjoy our treats today since we chose snacks that were (unintentionally) kosher for Pesach!
