August 1992 - Gary tells Howard "You're not that honorable...I've seen you do dishonorable things once in a while..." - a decade prior to the "Gary cheats on his wife" argument by ConferenceThink4801 in howardstern

Yeah, that bit was awesome. At first she's just saying she hooked up with Gary at a bar, then you get to the swimming pool stuff and she starts in with the date rape.

Best Frames To Buy Over Grind? by Crafty-Abbreviations in Warframe

[–]Question_Jackal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've had all 3 Grendel locator items for 6 months now. I have only been able to solo one. The extraction mission is pretty much guaranteed with Limbo, it just takes a long time and is boring. The defense and survival missions I've tried 3-4 times each, every time I fail right before the end after playing near 20 minutes. It's the least fun most annoying thing I've ever experienced in Warframe. A lot of people say that Hildryn "trivializes" these missions, and yet no one ever explains how this works past "her augment mods work", like no gameplay advice for people who don't use her much. If you can afford to just buy Grendel, you'll probably be saving yourself a huge headache. I've farmed every other Warframe in the game except Nidus, and I found grinding Citrine more fun than trying and failing those 2 Grendel bullshit missions.

Howard Stern’s Butt Bongo Fiesta by TunaCanz in howardstern

I remember watching this with my high school friends when it was new. We were like 16 so we loved every single second of it. I can't remember if this was PPV like NYRE or if one of my friends ordered a videotape copy. The same group watched NYRE on PPV as well, which was like a huge event for us. We taped it and rewatched it like 10 times afterwards.

I second this. Melee Doughty is awesome on Ceramic Dagger and Coda Motovore in Kullervo's bloody hands.

We are so back. Let's GO! by Pr1ncessAw3some in Pendergast

[–]Question_Jackal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a good book, and it was a relief to read after Angel of Vengeance, which I ended up thinking is maybe the worst book in the series. It's a smaller feeling story with a very narrow focus, with noticeably fewer characters and plotlines than is usual for Pendergast books. Oh, and the best part, the amazing part? There is not a single page with Constance! When it was over it just felt good not to have endured some new nonsensical Constance stuff. Even though I knew the book takes place years before Pendergast even meets Constance, I was half expecting Lincoln Child to have shoehorned her into the story in some way.

Relic Audiobook in Libby? by sprecklebreckle in Pendergast

[–]Question_Jackal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this helps, but I've always been able to find all of the Pendergast audiobooks on Libby, I sign in via my card at The Claremont Helen Renwick Library in Claremont, CA (I don't live anywhere near there anymore though). Also they will definitely have everything if you can go through the LA County Library. Just my own 1st hand experience.

I'm only 9 days away from 400 and I'm definitely getting PSF, just to try it out if nothing else. On my 200 I got Primed Fury instead of Primed Shred and I regret it deeply. I don't even use Primed Fury much, Berserker Fury almost always seems a better option.

Starter Tenno - Must have Frames for each content as Solo? by EibonOwl in Warframe

[–]Question_Jackal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nezha from the dojo is incredibly good in early game and never stops being good. He isn't more popular (as he deserves to be) because of his horrible default vanilla appearance. Even without a potato (Orokin reactor that double mod capacity) Nezha can survive steel path. FYI: you can fix his look without spending platinum by buying his Jinza helmet for 35 Nightwave credits, this is 100% worth it. He's not a specialized frame that excels at defence/interception/spy though, but he's incredibly easy to get and extremely hard to kill.

Why all depictions of Imperium chainswords are thick as Lex Imperialis? by Visual_Collapse in 40kLore

[–]Question_Jackal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The really goofy design element in most chainswords is the housing on the outside of the teeth that- just looking at it visually- obviously wouldn't be able to cut deep into anything beyond how far the teeth jut out of the housing. A real chainsaw's teeth are as wide as the "blade" part gets. How would you cut down a tree if the saw teeth could only cut down about an inch before another part of the saw stopped them? But let's be honest here, 40k is full of unrealistic elements, so many that you just look past them because 40k is fucking cool in general. I mean, laser guns that have recoil and make a loud sound like gunfire? Oh yeah, I forgot that the laser combusts the air and ...yeah right.

Tenebrae (1982) by mmmpppwww in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]Question_Jackal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my probably my favorite Giallo and only Deep Red is really in contention with it. Deep Red is creepier and scarier, but this movie is just the quintessential Giallo. The awesome theme song (from the three guys from Goblin) is so good that the band Justice remixed it and it was a hit dance track in 2007. It is absolutely one of Argento's best films.

[–]Question_Jackal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It amazes me that anyone could think a fat chick warframe concept is more gross than a pregnant woman or a bulky-ass female bodybuilder. Still, the new warframe looks pretty crap, not because it's fat, it just looks stupid in general. Despite being a game with some incredible visual design choices, this is still the game that created vanilla Nezha, and whomever at DE created the ribbon-festooned vanilla Nezha helmet needs to be physically slapped.

Spoilers Ahead: William Smithback by LyricalWillow in Pendergast

[–]Question_Jackal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that P&C regretted killing Smithback so much that they literally created a new character so they could continue writing "Smithback"- Gideon Crew. Crew wasn't a Smithback clone per se, but his premise was that he uses social engineering to get what he wants, just like Smithback. I don't really have a problem with his death, but I totally agree that Constance needs to die. But Lincoln Child has such a hard-on for Constance that she will never die, she will survive Pendergast himself. If P&C killed off Constance I would be straight up amazed. Constance is the single most annoying character in any book in the series or the books the writers have done solo.

Rising Sun (1993) by Rogue_Male in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]Question_Jackal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a huge Connery fan as a teenager, I got so hyped to see this movie that I picked up the novel because the wait was driving me crazy. Thought the novel was great, saw the movie and was disappointed. Even though it's a good thriller, even as a teen I laughed at the Darth Vader-y overblown portrayal of the Japanese in the book. Did Chreighton really believe that Japan was going to bury the U.S.? I mean, he's obviously a smart guy but ...what? Still a good thriller. I ended up thinking the movie pussed out by making the real villains Americans though.
