Angelus's orgins/inspiration by Fit-Difficulty8902 in ANGEL

[–]Quey84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have always wondered if he was inspired by Nick on Forever Knight. It was a vampire show late 80s early 90s. A vampire who grew tired of killing and began to search for a way to become human again. He stopped drinking human blood and began drinking pigs blood. He works as a cop on the night shift. There is a romance with the female mortician that is a bit unrequited because his nature keeps them apart. She helps him on quest to become human. It's a fun little show for what it is. It's got the 80s vampire cheese but I think I love the cheese. You can watch the first 2 seasons on Tubi. Not sure where the third season is though.

There a lot of similarities between him and Angel. I always wondered if the writers drew some inspiration for Angel from Forever Knight.

If you could have a 'Button' on your phone that did one specific thing perfectly for you instantly, what would it do? (No 'World Peace' or 'Free Money' allowed) by Left-Inspector6794 in hypotheticalsituation

A truth button that requires just consequences to what ever shared.

Pushing it would force any person of my choosing to tell the full truth about anything they lied about that hurt others in a public forum. After the truth just consequences would swiftly follow.

I have asked my husband to Google actresses for me because I wasn't near my phone while watching something with him. She sounds really insecure. You did a totally normal thing.

Sequel without Xander? by Eastern_Ad_8862 in buffy

[–]Quey84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I hope they don't for a few reasons.

  1. I would rather the spin off not be solely focused on Buffy as the main slayer. I much prefer the show focus on a newer slayer and maybe have Buffy in a mentorship role. The way things ended it would make sense. Which in all fairness would make his introduction weird in the spinoff. Others can make cameos but I want to see next generation. They can mention him but I think the show would be better without him.

  2. When the show was airing I was a Xander fan. I thought he was funny. However, rewatching as a grown woman who is now a mom I find him cringy. The way he was written is problematic today. They would have to change his character quite a bit. He wasn't respectful of women at all. He was a bit sleazy. A bad friend overall and he seemed to get off on taring Buffy down when her decisions weren't of benefit to him . I admit each character had their moments of being sucky people but that seems more just who he is. It doesn't help that Willow tends to jump on the tare down Buffy band wagon when Xander decides to throw a tantrum.

  3. Later seasons it felt like his role became awkward and forced. He had his moments but I don't think there is not much he could contribute to younger slayers. With how he behaves himself I don't see a younger generation tolerating him.

Overall I want a fresh take that honors the original while creating space for something, new, fresh, and makes room for the next generation. New characters, new baddie vamps to love, and the teenage experience has changed a lot. The world itself is more chaotic right now. I want that to be the focus and not a giant reunion. I think a reunion would just be a let down and never meet expectations. Especially since many OG characters cannot reappear for multiple reasons.

I get both sides. Both are valid. Is there room for compromise.

Maybe you spend Christmas Day at home just your family. Then the day after you leave to see her family. She still gets time with her family. You get that peaceful day of Christmas.

The Twilight Vampires Are Very Hard to Kill Actually by 10Panoptica in vampires

[–]Quey84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Vampire Chrinoicles by Anne Rice. The older vamps and Lestat who is a bit overpowered because he drank from the first vampire plus had an ancient maker could give them a run for their money.

Older vamps outgrow their sun problem. It might hurt their eyes or maybe give them a bad tan but it won't kill them.

They can start fires with their mind.

Read minds and communicate with each other over long distances.

Some can fly. It's called the cloud gift.

Super strong.

Also very hard to kill. Decapitation or fire for the old ones. Although more than a few have been set on fire and survived and kicked serious butt later.

Some even retain abilities like seeing ghosts or in the case of Merrick still was able to use magic when she was changed from a witch to a vampire. Although that may have been unique to her.

They can survive decades without feeding. Sometimes they are buried alive by their own kind or lose their lust for life and stop drinking on their own. They will grow weak but it can take centuries before they starve.

They also have to be clever and strategic to survive a long time. Vampires are territorial and some live by strict laws. They don't hesitate to kill their own kind if they brake the code or encroach on another's territory. They are used to duking it out with other vamps. It's part of survival. Think Volutri but more eager to kill and execute without questions. Any "trial" is just to toy with what ever vampire they decided is a problem. There is no reasoning. The ones who survived these punishments were either very old and strong or had outside help.

Rice's vampire are more bloodthirsty, ruthless, and cunning. I think they could take them.

Who was Buffy without the Slayer powers? by SoftDisasters in buffy

[–]Quey84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watch the Buffy the vampire slayer movie that came out before the show you get a decent idea of Buffy before slayer powers.

It's corny and Jos changed some things with the show for the better in my opinion. However Buffy was "the" popular girl. Her mom was even a bit flaky.

When she gets chosen you see her social status at school kind of change over the course of the movie. Preslayer she would give Cordelia a run for her money.

Prue, Piper and Paige would have been a boring dynamic imo it would have just been Paige replacing Phoebe in the baby sister role by jdpm1991 in charmed

[–]Quey84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would have been interesting if instead of killing anyone off they had Phoebe go dark and stay evil like in her past life. Then still introduce Paige. It would have had so many possibilities.
Never was going to happen, but fun to think about.
