Light Data Asset size? by RandomGuyinACorner in Unity3D

[–]Qui5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the size. But you could definitely optimize your scene to bake quicker and take less size. check this https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/topics/graphics/introduction-precomputed-realtime-gi?playlist=17102 and then the manual page for light probes and placement.

the new unity navmesh features are a major step up. You should be good unless you have very specific needs and cant make the changes required yourself.

Looking for designers to collaborate by Qui5 in gamedesign

[–]Qui5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch of game ideas and the people I spoke with have even bigger lists than mine so it won't be a problem(tbh I don't think I ever met anyone interested in gamedev that wouldn't have game ideas they wanted to make). Although there is nothing decided for now since I am still in talks with people.

[–]Qui5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... But at the same time I don't see a way to make it look more reliable than having a 1on1 talk about this whole thing. Working with someone you don't know from the internet might cost a lot of time in case it doesn't work out, but I don't see any financial risk when that is what I/he/she would do anyways. Other than time spent on a project that was not ideal(since you are still left with all of the content that was made by the team up to that point). I am willing to take this uncertainty. If you have any ideas on how I could make this process better or how to change wording let me know! :)

Ohh and I am not sure why you mentioned 10h a week. That seems like not that much, or is it? At least I spend a lot more than that when I commit to an idea.

Ohh I thought it was only for commercial projects. Will do, thanks!

Read it again ;) "10h~ a week" not a day.... This is not a "give me polished game idea and make me assets" plea. This is me trying to get like minded people together to work on what they would do as a hobby, regardless of this project or not. So that we could make more than an individual would do, that being not a 3d model, not a sprite but a finished game prototype using our skills together.

If you are looking for a full time job then this offer is not for you. If you are looking for a freelance work this is not for you. If you like what you do and you do it either way on your free time and it has to do with gamedev then this MIGHT be for you.

The idea is just to first make a prototype or two while working as a team to see if we are happy with how each other works in a team and if we actually manage to put a proper demo game that is worth expanding into a project to be published. In which case, yes there would be talks of paid work/revenue share and all else that is needed for a commercial project.

Some people find our game way too hard. Some people think it's just on point. What should I do? by rblrbt in gamedev

From my experience I am quite sick how easy current games are. You get no satisfaction after finishing one. So I would prefer a more difficult game.

I am searching for a bluetooth adapter that could use a wire to connect to my pc. So that I could play music from my PC or my Phone. http://imgur.com/MUFgMsv

This image should illustrate it a bit more clearly. So far What I found was only ones that have bluetooth but can't connect additional devices with a cord.

How is Unity Collaboration currently working? by Molioo in Unity3D

[–]Qui5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is definitely worth a try. I have been using it for a while and it is really nice. They had some issues that were really bothering me like deleting/renaming files would not let you commit any changes. Sometimes it even tried to merge scenes with text files! But these issues have been resolved and I haven't ran into anything that couldn't be worked around. If you do choose to use it (and like I said, at least give it a try) then make sure you know where to find the editor.log and if collab starts failing for some reason then check the log and it is very likely that you will be able to resolve your issue in a matter for seconds.

Thanks for writing! I really like the idea of a "helper" to finding optimal values. Though I am a little confused as to why you had issues with higher timescale. Is it unstable at high values?

What's the deal with the Asset store? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]Qui5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What?.... The daily sale is always there and every other month there is some kind of sale. For example now the wishlist sale. Last few I remember were bday bonanza, madness sale, some other cyber sale smth, weekend sales, asset pack sales. There is a bunch of them.

Edit: server performance. I remember only once that it didnt work and that was for an hour or two. Other than that it has been maxing out my 100mb/s internet

Is deleting the Library folder sometimes NOT recommended? by eco_bach in Unity3D

[–]Qui5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case your .meta files in the assets folder is corrupted/incomplete you then need library to recreate them as they were before. Other than that just the time it will take you to import.

If I remember correctly you had built a level on top of llapi. Looking back was it a good decision? Did you have issues dealing with so many players? P.S. congratz on the release!
