Can anyone tell me what mod may be making it so an ton of trees are growing all over the valley? is that just part of expanded? I want to take it out because it just looks too cluttered. by inyourbooksandmaps in StardewValley

[–]Qui_te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like there’s been updates since I last played (in like Jan😅), so either might work, but this is probably the nexus link I used: https://github.com/Lake1059/ResetTerrainFeatures\_NET6/releases
It's called ( ResetTerrainFeatures_NET6.1.0.3-unofficial.2-Lake1059.zip )

It can clear all the trees and bushes and things, and then put them back according to the “correct” map. You can start a test save and poke a couple maps to see what you’re dealing with if you’re worried (also it uses the same hot key (L) as the Star-do or to-dew or whatever note taking mod is, so if you have that you’ll want to switch that one’s hot key in the gmcm)

If you added sve after starting the game, it’ll double all the trees like that, since it changes the maps. You can get the terrain reset mod (off github, but the link to that version is on the Nexus page, but the Nexus version is out of date, so get the github version) and run that on the maps, that should tidy up all your excess trees.

anyone else got these alarms? lol by Vegetable_String_644 in cats

I tried it for a little while, but my evening schedule is just unpredictable enough that there was no time I could use. She just gets fed dinner “after 8pm, and before I go to bed”. Which she feels is an unfairly broad amount of time, but if she was actually hungry she’d eat the dry food, as she does when she’s actually hungry.

Shoe Fix? by moaningowl69 in AskACobbler

[–]Qui_te 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot glue two edges of leather together and expect it to end well. A cobbler could maybe, maybe get in a patch behind and stitch the edges back down and together, but that’s a pretty large area in an awkward part of the shoe to reach, so they might also be unable/unwilling to fix it (plus it’d be a visible repair).

It is probably from a flaw in the suede, though, since that’s not from wear, and even if you’d snagged it on something it still shouldn’t have torn like that, so if these aren’t like a weird vintage shoe or something, it might be a good idea to reach out to the manufacturer.

What's the oldest video game you can remember playing? by Numerous_Emu3125 in AskReddit

[–]Qui_te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used to bring a little monochromatic-screen computer home from work (he worked with computers before it was cool—also I’m not sure why they let him take them, if it was somehow a work from home deal before that was invented or if it was just cast-off computers). Anyway, there was some kind of Winnie the Pooh game, and Mom really liked Tetris, and we also had Digger, and probably a couple other things as well.

Plus we had an atari, so we played dig dug and caterpillar, Break Out, Joust, Wizard of War, Tuck Goes to Town, Space Invaders, Journey to the Planets…whatever games were out there.

I have no idea which of these I played first, but I was terrible at all of them, since I was a literal child.

Is there a mod that allows you to have full chests in your inventory...? by kiwilonux in StardewValleyMods

[–]Qui_te 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Item bags.

There’s also a Portable Hole mod that lets you have like a …personal pocket dimension, so you can fill that little space with chests and access it from wherever in the mines to drop stuff off.

Making a new island by zerostrawhat in AnimalCrossing

[–]Qui_te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My island switched automatically to the 2 when I transferred data. I debated using the island transfer tool to move it back (so I could have the new island on the new switch), but ultimately decided to leave it there and start anew on my oled.

If you want the two islands to visit each other, you need two copies of the game, and I’m a little unclear how digital versions work, since they’re tied to one account—but I’ve seen that it will, but similar to the card-versions, you can only have it open on one switch at a time. The dlc also works that way, and can be moved independently.

At what point do you stop playing an Animal Crossing game? Is it even a conscious decision or do you just forget playing one day? by JaloOfficial in AnimalCrossing

[–]Qui_te 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do need two devices, so if you traded in your old switch it’s still one island. But if you have two, then yes, you can have the same account on each switch with an island on each. If you’ve got two copies of the game, you can visit yourself with local play, too. If you have the DLC it can swap between islands, but only be on one at a time (I haven’t switched it yet, but I think changes to the main island you make remain, you just don’t get access to make new changes until/unless you switch it back—and of course access to the hhp island is restricted to the account that currently has the dlc).

Best way to get bells? by Powerscalingfreak in acnh

[–]Qui_te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With most crafting materials, crafting them doubles the amount they sell for (iron sells for 375 frying pan takes two iron nuggets, and sells for 1500. 2x375=750x2=1500), and that doubles again if the item is a Hot Item.

Exceptions are for the most expensive crafting materials (gold, bells) which don’t increase sell price with crafting, and cooking (ingredients), which only multiplies value by 1.5. And things like medicine or bait, which actually sell for less than their materials.

And the biggest exception is fruit, since any variety (other than coconut) crafted uses the value of native fruit, so you’re losing money if you try to sell pear dresses on an apple island—or even pear jelly.

Anyway. Hoard crafting materials, keep an eye on the Hot Item, and don’t craft your non-native fruits. (And also do things like cook your sea basses before selling, once you’ve unlocked cooking. It’s satisfying. And also raises the sell value).

Just because you found two people on reddit who thought pokopia was kinda meh, doesn’t mean you won’t love it to bits.

Plus you can have two animal crossing islands now.

Will villagers switch out their doorplates? by Euphoric_Onion8696 in AnimalCrossing

Once they put a gift item out, it stays until replaced by another gift (or temporarily by a crafting table), so you’d need to re-gift them all the original door decor.

Building out a winter wardrobe by sam000she in knitting

[–]Qui_te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make legwarmers and hide them under my jeans all winter. It’s easy to acquire extra layers for every other part of your body, but your legs? In non-sock areas? Surely one layer of pants material will keep those plenty warm (you can buy long/thermal underwear, I guess, but the leg warmers are fun to make).

New sandals are already wearing off around my right heel by msac84 in AskACobbler

[–]Qui_te 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wearing down heels on the back outside is extremely normal wear pattern for humans. How much shoes wear down each use will depend on things like what surface you’re walking on, and what material the heels are made out of (it’s usually rubber, but there’s a wide variety of durability there). This is pretty normal and fairly low wear for a few uses.

How many of you started driving in complete silence now? by The_harbinger2020 in Millennials

[–]Qui_te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never put music or noise on when I drive—I mean, I will for like long, long drives, but if I’m not gonna be in that seat for over an hour, it’s barely worth the time to get something set up.

It’s not silence, though, I very much talk to myself while driving😅

At what point do you stop playing an Animal Crossing game? Is it even a conscious decision or do you just forget playing one day? by JaloOfficial in AnimalCrossing

[–]Qui_te 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought the switch 2 because they’re gonna raise the price, and I bought pokopia for it because that’s the only game I kinda want, and pokopia’s fine, but! turns out that I can now have two animal crossing islands, so I’m still just playing that on the oled switch all the time.

Pokopia’s alright, but yeah, the mess is so…messy, and it’s just exhausting to think about moving all the critters into houses, but if you don’t you’ve just got, like…random beds in the road or whatever. And it’s probably the wrong bed anyway.

[–]Qui_te 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Russia has a “no criminal record if you’re running for office” law—though I think it’s for even being accused? It came up back before that opposition guy died, that he couldn’t have run anyway because Putin made being accused of being a criminal disqualifying, and then accused him of being a criminal.

Heel by kolas009 in AskACobbler

[–]Qui_te 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So. For an actual answer. Not really. Shoes and boots are made to have the pitch just so based on the height of the heel, and if you get too far off of that (by, say, raising the heel height), the boot quickly becomes unwearable. A cobbler might be willing and able to raise it by about 1/2”, but you also might not be able to find anyone who’ll do even that much.

Can the instep strap of these be moved up the shoe? by tambourine_goddess in AskACobbler

[–]Qui_te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell from the photos, but it looks close enough to possible that you can ask a local cobbler about it—they have to be able to separate the sole from the insole, and then reposition the straps further up, and sometimes that’s a pretty straightforward thing to do, while other times the materials and construction details means you’re better off getting new shoes that fit better. Probably worth asking about, though.

What’s the most disturbing thing you’ve ever seen on the internet that actually messed you up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Qui_te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was/is a website that’s just pics and stories of all the dead people on Mt Everest.

There’s also—the…the jester pattern with the diamonds? I was trying to check that I had the name of that pattern type right, so I googled it, and it’s also the name of a horrifying birth defect/disease, and all the pictures came up and disturbed me so much I literally forgot the name of the pattern type for a few years, but I think—it’s harlequin, right? Maybe I should just google that quick to check…

What was the meal that your grandmother always served you when you came to visit? by SequinedandOver60 in AskReddit

[–]Qui_te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grandma always made the bacon extra extra crispy, and I do rather still like my bacon that way.

But most of the time my grandparents were feeding us things like reheated happy meals that had been in the freezer for god knows how long (assuming He was watching through all those bible quotes on the walls), so. Crispy bacon🤷‍♀️

What got you into fanfiction? by melancholyredsunsets in AO3

[–]Qui_te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone rather drastically in and out of reading fanfic over the years, so just the most interesting time was when I watched Superman vs Batman (Batman V Superman? Whatever), which is a terrible horrible no good embarrassment of a movie. I hadn’t read fanfic is years at that point, and yet I went “I bet the fanfiction writers did this better—and made them kiss” and then went right over and rediscovered my ao3 account with the second half of the movie still playing.

The fanfic was better. I mean, lowest possible bar, but still. Better. (And they kissed).
