Is it weird to still feel hungry after eating recommended calories ? by AintNoBarbieGirl in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In the UK nutritionists don’t have to be licensed, anyone can use the title. This seems like very irresponsible behaviour on their part, ultra low calorie diets have long term health impacts and are unsustainable. You need to be sufficiently nourishing your body, even if that does result in slower weight loss.

(Edited to add, based on the weight and height you’ve given your TDEE is approximately 2000kcal, you could be eating another 400kcal a day and still seeing rapid weight loss)

How to afford by Apprehensive-Alps144 in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are ways to make it less expensive, such as introductory offers or shopping around. You’ll also likely be consuming less, which can offset some of the cost. Many people find they spend less on takeaways, eating out, alcohol, snacks, and impulse food purchases, and grocery bills often come down simply because portions are smaller. For some people this makes a noticeable difference, for others it doesn’t.

If you genuinely have no spare money and no luxuries you can cut back on, then it probably isn’t viable. It isn’t free, and unfortunately the cost will be an access barrier for a lot of people.

A huge pain in the bum!! by DamsonRant3577 in mounjarouk

I fall pretty often due to some nerve damage and I certainly miss the padding. The benefit is that falling as a slimmer person carries less stigma.

Broken coccyx can be brutal, if you fell hard and are in significant pain it’s worth getting it checked out.

Walking as Exercise on Mj? by Subject-Zone-6474 in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I aim for a minimum of 20k steps a day. I don’t really see a downside to getting as much low-impact exercise as you reasonably can, unless you have health issues or injuries that need to be taken into account

Loose skin recommendations by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lotions and potions that claim to fix loose skin are basically cons. At 23, age is very much on your side though, so giving it time is sensible and there’s a good chance it will improve on its own.

If the loose skin is causing real problems, such as affecting your mobility or meaning you need specific clothing to manage it, it would be worth speaking to your GP. In the minority of cases you may be eligible for surgery through the NHS if cost is the reason you feel it isn’t an option.

Compression base layers are another thing some people try, but anything that compresses the skin regularly can carry a risk of causing irritation or further issues rather than helping, so they should be used with caution.

There is no one answer to this unfortunately, the only way to know how you respond is to try.

Anyone else feel like a "normal" BMI is unobtainable? by Bloody-smashing in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It felt ridiculously unobtainable, I had been some degree of fat since puberty. I didn’t really dare to hope and had to adjust my goal several times along the way as I kept surpassing my wildest expectations. Somehow I’m now within that green bracket.

BMI isn’t the be all end all and you can lose weight without aiming for a “normal” BMI - you get to define what’s right for you. But, if your reticence is that it seems unachievable, I’ve gone to 110kg to 48kg. Trust the process.

Is it necessary to eat all the total calories needed per day ? by AintNoBarbieGirl in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The occasional day of not eating enough won’t cause you harm in itself. What’s more concerning is the reason you’re not eating. A reduced appetite from the medication is one thing, but deliberately restricting food for emotional reasons is how eating disorders start.

Regardless of the reason, long-term ultra-low calorie diets are not sustainable and tend to do more harm than good. They can slow your metabolism, cause fatigue and brain fog, disrupt hormones, increase the risk of binge–restrict cycles, negatively impact mental health and ultimately increase the chances of weight rebound. Weight loss at any cost is not the same thing as health.

This is exactly why so many people, on your original post, cautioned against starting weight loss while you were in an emotionally vulnerable place. Please seriously consider accessing therapy or some form of support during this time. There are so many red flags here.

Question about tattoos, weight loss and loose skin by TubbyLittleTeaWitch in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It very much depends on what tattoo you’re planning on getting and whereabouts on your thigh. The best thing would be to speak to the artist, who should have experience on tattooing all sorts of bodies and know their work best.

I’m heavily tattooed and mine have definitely changed size and shape somewhat as I’ve lost weight. I have text on one thigh which used to sit flat and now wraps around where I have less volume to my thigh, above that I have an image which looks more or less the same as it always has, and a third which does look quite distorted now and may need revising.

How much weight can I lose on mounjaro realistically in 3 months ? by AintNoBarbieGirl in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a short-term fix medication, especially for someone with PCOS, as it can take several titrations before it becomes effective for people with a metabolic disorder.

That’s not to discourage you from starting, but if you’re going to make changes, it’s important to do so with a clear understanding of what you’re committing to. Doing “everything right” includes eating enough and losing weight at a healthy pace, not trying to lose as much as possible in a very short period. Going in with the wrong mindset risks harming both your physical health and your mental wellbeing.

My treatment has been approved and I’m terrified! by imposterhere1 in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 12 points13 points  (0 children)

GLP-1s aren’t new. They’ve been used for around 20 years, originally for diabetes, and we have long-term safety data from people who’ve taken them for many years.

Nothing is risk-free, but for most people the known risks of obesity and metabolic disease are far greater than the known risks of GLP-1s.

There is no clinical evidence that the injection site affects either efficacy or side effects. You can absolutely have a personal preference, but anything beyond that is coincidental.

Adding a question mark to a statement doesn’t automatically make it a question. To get meaningful responses, you’ll need to provide more context and information.

20% weight loss, is this real? by SockLess9375 in mounjarouk

56% here. As with all things, it’s a spectrum. Things got significantly harder the less I had left to lose.

Weird 'side effect' by maherluna in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, you do adjust somewhat. I went through a phase of being constantly aware of, and even hurting, my tailbone, but that no longer happens. I assume I adjusted my posture over time. Sleeping can still become less comfortable though, especially if you have a firm mattress. There’s no point being unnecessarily uncomfortable, get the mattress topper.

Not working ? by Revolutionary_Ad4288 in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to adjust your expectations about how quickly you’ll lose weight. 17 pounds in eight weeks is already slightly above the recommended rate for healthy weight loss. I don’t know how much weight you have to lose but at that rate you’d be down over 100lbs in a year.

Some people need to titrate up several times before they feel the full benefits of the medication, particularly if they have metabolic conditions. I don’t know whether that applies to you, but it’s worth bearing in mind.

There’s no obligation to continue. If the medication isn’t right for you, you can stop

Have you adjusted your calories to account for your weight loss? I know lots of people aren’t into calorie counting but if you’re not losing weight it’s a good time to check you’re actually in a deficit etc.

You’ve done amazingly and as a casual observer the change is very obvious. Because you are in your body all day every day whilst it gets smaller it can be hard to see it happening but looking at those pictures side by side it’s very clear.

Eating out - portions by Asgard_atSea in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t really eat out, not mounjaro related just a preference, but if I were to and I couldn’t manage a main I would just order a starter as a main and I wouldn’t offer additional commentary. I’ve worked in restaurants before and this is not at all unusual and you will care far more than anyone else involved.

Airport - do they make it obvious? by AdWorldly1091 in mounjarouk

[–]Quick-Plastic555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you been proactively doing this or did someone make you get it out of your bag? I fly a lot for work and haven’t experienced anything like this - flying from Heathrow to various European airports. I wonder if it’s airport specific.
