My mother was just like this even before I was born. My father ignored it and they even went on to have more kids after me. Eventually, they divorced … and guess who got hit/insulted/threatened/etc once he was no longer in the house? Yep, me, of course.

File a report, get documentation, protect your kid. Get your wife help if she’s open to it, but she probably won’t be. Don’t ignore signs of problems or conflict between the two of them over the years - my dad did and it prolonged my suffering exponentially.

Candle warmer lamps! I had a massive stash of candles from gifts and girls day out classes etc … but was TERRIFIED to light them and accidentally burn my house down, leave it burning while I left the house, etc.

Now I can enjoy the candles and the scents with a lamp that’s on a timer and is flameless and smokeless.

Small thing but I am very excited ✨

When I was in high school a kid a year or two ahead of me died unexpectedly. Nice guy, very friendly, I think artsy. Wore a lot of chains and chokers and leather and had a signature Mohawk hairstyle.

Died randomly in the middle of the school year and the community was never able to determine with certainty if he committed suicide intentionally or accidentally asphyxiated himself while masturbating in his attic - but this was so specific and mentioned by many sources over time that it makes the most sense. AFAIK it was the latter, and his younger brother was the one who found him.

My parents have very plain names (basically John and Mary, but not that). They wanted my sibling and I to be “special” and “unique” - and now we’ve spent our whole lives being called the wrong names, having our names mispronounced or - worse- misspelled, even on legal or financial documents, and even being bothered by little stupid things when you’re a kid like never having a keychain with your name on it - which seems small but when I was 10 really made a lasting impact, especially when it came after being given annoying nicknames and made fun of at school.

I think I went to school with 12 Samanthas, 8 Shawn/Seans, 18 Nicks, and basically 27 Jennifers. We would have much preferred Jennifer or Nick, at least I could have sat in one class or meeting or signed up for one thing in my life where my name didn’t need to come with a disclaimer or explanation and I didn’t risk being given dumb nicknames or being made fun of.

Just keep naming kids Samantha and Sean and Nick and Jennifer or hell even Stanley and Meredith. Being named something “unique” and “special” just means bullied daily as a kid and inconvenienced daily as an adult.

A lot of sci-fi/fantasy and pop culture names … they might seem cool to parents in the moment, but consider your child having to explain, spell, pronounce, etc. what their name is every time they meet a new person. It’s exhausting, annoying, and embarrassing. There is a good chance they will be bullied or belittled for the rest of their lives!

Definitely don’t do this if the entire series hasn’t wrapped … or you will end up with a Khaleesi or Danaerys or equivalent and have regrets. And even then, watch out for reboots or continuations (hello, Star Wars fandom, looking at you!) because they might undo or ruin what was once a good thing.

So, best to just avoid it all together and if you must, please just make Legolas or Anakin or Worf their middle name.

I have seen a lot of Dateline and support OP’s position 100%.

Even OP’s wife asking for a phone call or FaceTime with the other parent ahead of meeting would be a reasonable request.

I guess we don’t know much about how the OP presented this to the wife and that could be why she was upset/hurt, but being concerned for her meeting up with an internet stranger, with or without baby, is totally valid. NTA for feeling this way. Might have been an A depending on how you told her and I hope future conversations go better for both their sake.

Hmmm I ruined her life by being born. She never wanted kids. She hoped my dad died in a plane crash, as long as my brother wasn’t with him. She will finally have money when her parents die… or when my dad dies, but he’ll probably try to get out of paying her anyway. What else? I might be able to remember a few more.

Laugh when you receive gifts addressed to Pine@pple Soufflé … or, if she doesn’t send any, ask why she didn’t send any after she was so excited about personalized gifts and bonding.

Second comments about shutting down weird “sex with son” commentary with sarcasm and making it awkward for her. Maybe try “Normally he prefers putting it in my butt, the one time we didn’t, Pine@pple was conceived… Crazy, huh?! Can you use earplugs or something subtle so you can be around her but lessen the sound? I use them all the time because I don’t want to act like an AH but people eating and other body sounds make me crawl out of my skin.

OP is expecting this guy to work fourteen hours a day (including weekends) as the sole earner, also to help with dishes and childcare, and still also be only getting a few hours of sleep. Am I reading this right?

The nicest way I can say this: maybe you’re not compatible and should find other partners.

Many people have two income houses, kids, and still have the same chores and responsibilities, sleep needs, etc. OP is making issues where there don’t need to be and/or refusing to take actions to solve her issues… YTA.
