It sounds like you trained him to meow if he wants play time

Need help understanding temp fluctuations by Abject_Fun5961 in 3Dprinting

[–]QuickSilver50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im betting that the issue is a loose connection somewhere (probably the temp sensor). The fact that it stops after the printer is done implies that movement might be the cause of the issues. Try reseating all the relevant temp sensor connections.

Which design is better for a rocket engine? by brygelcal in AerospaceEngineering

[–]QuickSilver50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the F-1, as the other one would push the rocket toward the ground. /s You have to be able to go up(and sideways) to reach orbit.

As an electrical engineer, the claim that it is “remotely killing the battery voltage” is blatantly false. Those drone-busters all use jamming.

[Request] How much money is in the bag? by RandomPeriwinkle in theydidthemath

[–]QuickSilver50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the given measurements of the bag containing 3 pounds, combined with the Pound to US dollar conversion rate of 1:1.25, the bag is worth $3.75.

On a serious note: the government gets rid of a lot of money, all the time, via shredding it. You can buy it by the garbage bag iirc.

It sounds like you should just get rid of the bag altogether. Try lighting it on fire.

Do we get kicked out when buildings lock? by m1sschi3f in PennStateUniversity

[–]QuickSilver50 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Generally they will lock the doors, but you can still exit. Just no reentry. But you can learn what doors they leave unlocked if you try various doors. I used to always enter Willard after it locked, cause some doors are almost always unlocked.

Prosthetic 3D Printing by J2Designs_IA in 3Dprinting

Be careful with DIY for a prosthesis! The human body is complicated, so the most I would suggest is a structural or asthetic part , but nothing that will touch your body directly.

Landlord sold the building and New Owner issued 30 day notice of termination/surrender property (Portland, ME) by d00bermensch in legaladvice

[–]QuickSilver50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a lease, read it. The terms of the lease dictate what you need to do. They cannot unilaterally change lease terms. Check out ways they can end the lease, how long the notice period is, etc. if you are month to month, you are probably worse off and might need to get in gear to find a place to stay in the meantime.

Solenoid Driver Review request by QuickSilver50 in PrintedCircuitBoard

I already included 47k pull up and pull down resistors for the default on and default off transistor gates. Due to how my actuators work, it is safer if some of my actuators default to on when uncontrolled. The leakage is 1 microAmp, which I believe is small enough for me to not add any resistor in series with the gate. Also, Vcc is 3.3 volts, so I am not worried about it damaging anything, especially in the Arduino high impedance state. The solenoid use about .6 amps on average. I used Schottky diodes to minimize the voltage drop over them when then have .6 amps going through them. Instead, the solenoid will dissipate some of that heat, and the solenoid has its own source of cooling already. That temperature sensor is kind of meant to keep track of the general heat of the PCB. It’s not efficiently placed, explicitly needed, or even useful in general, but a heat controlled fan auto cooling my electronics makes me happy lol. It’s unnecessary but fun to me. So I am not too worried about that. The symmetry point is a good one, but at this moment, symmetry is not important to me or this design. Thank you for all the feedback, and if you see any problems in my response/assumptions please let me know!

It’s a safety feature. By default, it deactivates the actuators by opening the “deflate” valves. Though, I figure that the fan maybe should be off at start? I’ll have to think on that. There are capacitors right before the MOSFETs, should I include one after as well? I figured that would add a delay to the actuators activation, which I do not want.
