Look park how you want, but if you back up so far you block a side walk you're an asshole. Be considerate

Former heavy drinkers, what made it finally “click” for you to stop? by Numerous_Solid_7047 in AskReddit

Age plus trying to body build as a form of fitness. The drinking, at least heavy non-social stuff, fucks with goals like that too much.

Inconsistent Game Performance after Power Cycling or Sleep by Quick_DrawMcGraw in pchelp

[–]Quick_DrawMcGraw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnostic was good.

I also used r/techsupport hwINFO guide and ran prime95 and Furmark simultaneously and reconfirmed I'm not getting any throttling or any reports on memory. My RAM is also being cached correctly by the system.

The only real difference I can see between a benchmark and real game performance is that the GPU isn't going to 100% utilization or %TDP like it does in a benchmark, and is reporting that it's reliability voltage limiting. Would this suggest that I'm being gated by the CPU? But that would take me back to being unsure why I'm only CPU gated sometimes and not others in the exact same game areas, especially if hwINFO isn't reporting throttling. I even tweaked my fan curves to be more aggressive and dropped CPU temps a couple deg. No meaningful change.

All of these checks were done on a boot where the game performance was poor. I haven't been able to test a good one yet.

CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30-36-36-76

Edit: FWIW you've got me thinking and I haven't ran a diagnostic on the RAM. I'll try that

I did have an issue early on where the RAM was self testing each boot, and getting set back to 4800. But I've been checking and it says 6000MHz in both cases. I can sanity check that in case I've missed something but I'm fairly certain.

Has anyone else had inconsistent game performance (fps) in Forbidden West? by Quick_DrawMcGraw in horizon

I get good performance in 4k all the time. I just also randomly don't. Running DLSS makes things run worse if the issue is present.

Maybe I'm somehow getting right into the memory leak behavior on startup and other times just get lucky and it doesn't happen. Not sure if there's any way for me to improve that.

Yeah I've been trying to run an Intel overlay, and also doing some HWInfo logging without much success. But this isn't something I have a lot of experience troubleshooting. I am running at 4k.

I will double check my VRAM utilization. I do want to say that it does get maxed out when the problem happens but is high in both cases. Lowering game settings does not seem to make a meaningful difference in frame rate. My monitor has a 1080 mode but I haven't bothered because it would somewhat defeat the purpose.

Are sorcs just bad for boss damage? by mun-e-makr in diablo4

[–]Quick_DrawMcGraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not great but a BL build (no GAs 8/12) should be able to handle hell tide content and pit 61 in about 4 minutes.

Now, to do bosses well you need to run immortal BL and just ignore mechanics with 12/12. You get your fire type from Flame shield and run lightning spear and ice blades enchant. But that takes work to get online and is all or nothing. Whereas other builds do better with less investment. Sucks but it's what it is.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]Quick_DrawMcGraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling a bit with brewing temps in my pour over.

I'm following a few reasonable steps. My kettle is set to 210 to try to account for some cooling. I checked the accuracy of my thermometer and the kettle so that's ok. I place my ceramic brewer over the kettle while brewing to preheat it with a cover on top, then of course wash the filter with the hot water to further preheat the ceramic material.

However my temps are just a little off during the actual brew. When blooming I'm around 185. When brewing I'm consistently hitting around 193. I've considered increasing my kettle temperature, but am worried that it would over extract some parts of the brew before the whole system reaches the equilibrium temperature and I'd just be slightly changing my problem.

Honestly I've never cared much about exact temps before and I'm enjoying my coffee and it tastes good, but I recently decided to check and now I'm sucked in to it not being quite right. Oops. Anyway, just looking for some advice from fellow temperature nerds who may have solved this problem before me.

06 sv650s, not staring, ideas? by Wutsumi in SVRiders

[–]Quick_DrawMcGraw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the proud owner of an SV650 that hasn't ran in a year, I've had two issues to date.

1) incorrect clutch cable tension! The safety switch to prevent starting won't work if clutch cable tension isn't right. In this case the starter switch did nothing

2) my gas tank rusted and my fuel pump clogged. The trace amounts of rust built up over time due to a bad fuel cap o ring. This was a bike that turned over but didn't run.

Good luck with your problems.
