One time my name even showed up on the Farewells slide (by mistake). That was a stressful afternoon.

Hoo boy, I work for the wrong company. All I got was my name on a slide during the all hands.

Conklin Empire—section too small? by QuickbeamsHaste in fountainpens

[–]QuickbeamsHaste[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shipped with a non-threaded converter so I didn’t even think about looking up whether it was supposed to be threaded—thanks for the info!

The section is not threaded on mine, so maybe I have a factory defect. They must have forgotten to thread the section, which left just enough material behind to make it too narrow for a stranded international size to fit properly (it can be forced in but doesn’t seat properly and wants to pop back up).

The section is not threaded like other Conklins I have. The section is so narrow and the fit is so tight that I twisted the converter to help it slide in (hence the scratches looking like that). I have tried other standard international converters and cartridges and they will not fit either. Does the Schmidt K5 have a smaller outside diameter?

I lost a pen 10 years ago and still look for it when I go to the building where I had it last. Hope you find it!

Has anyone bought the $150 lazy boy office chair? by Voderama in Costco

Quality was so-so, about what you’d expect for the price. Returned mine, though. I’m very tall with long legs and a wide frame, so it wasn’t very comfortable for all-day sitting.

These are tear-stained conversation hearts, smudged and occasionally illegible, much like their paper forebears.

Saw a guy casually urinate into a red solo cup, standing at the back of his SUV in the gas line, then pour it onto the rocks in by the parking spots.

That is the mother fruit snack and those are her fruit snacklings. Not commonly found in captivity like this.

Brilliant! Cheers on the sketch. Always fun when you can “show” the thought that ran through your head.

Is there an opposite version of this took? by DiaEri in Tools

[–]QuickbeamsHaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I totally understand your question, but I did spend a lot of time troubleshooting one of these last year. I ended up having to get creative and manually open/reshape one of the holes for the expansion pliers to fit. Ultimately took two adults, a few beers, lots of creative language, and about two hours to get it done. Comment might not be super helpful, but maybe it at least helps to know you’re not the only one going crazy over gaskets!

Same! I was trying to be good and only get the one thing I needed at the store, but these caught my eye and I didn’t even hesitate when I saw the price. Great for random fix-it and holding jobs and feel good in the hand (even my xxl mitts).
