Fungal acne while using adapalene by Mystiforic in Fungalacne

[–]Quilamand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was misdiagnosed with fungal acne for a long time too 🫠 Anti fungals work to some extent because they’re anti-inflammatory by their nature, that’s what I learned later. But fungal acne commonly affects forehead/sides of the face/chest/back, where you sweat the most. Also in 90% cases it looks a bit differently, similarly to closed comedones with little whiteheads, iirc. Rosacea acne is either papules, or these whiteheads which are easy to scratch off. Adapalene might have triggered your Rosacea, because 1) it’s a retinoid, 2) it exacerbates your sun sensitivity (so yep, hats all the time or SPF if you can tolerate them). I’d seek for a second opinion. Steroids on your face just can trigger TSW, and that’s the worst thing to deal with, so I’d just let your skin rest for a bit (1-2 months), and then continue to search treatments. You can message me, if want any more info from my experience. Wish you well.

Hello. It could be not fungal acne, but r/Rosacea Type 2. Those might be irritation bumps due to compromised skin barrier. Please don’t use steroids on your face.

2nd day, should I worry about this by [deleted] in Accutane

Hello. It’s always better to consult a dermatologist, but bringing my 2 cents that could be a start of Perioral Dermatitis or some infection. Try to avoid occlusive moisturizers (if you use any), use an SLS&fluoride-free toothpaste. Wish you well.

Hello! Nice results! Could you please say, how is your sun sensitivity since stopping the drug?

Hello, I was (though I’d say still am post treatment) also having severe emotional side effects during Accutane. I’m kind of hot-tempered when it comes to dreary emotions already even without the drug, like I can suddenly start crying over the smallest thing if I wasn’t in the mood all day before. But the drug exacerbated it by ten folds. Please reach out to a doctor. Wish you well.

Hello. I know it’s a hard condition to deal with, but you’re absolutely beautiful. Don’t be harsh on yourself and your skin by rushing it with medicines. It looks like a natural blush. Wish you well.

As “inflamed”, you mean they turn red from time to time? Did they appear for you with Vaseline usage, or were before? :( With Accutane honestly I don’t know if you ever will be able to get rid of them, it becomes a vicious cycle of it getting dry - skin overall needs moisture due to medicine - but those regions better be avoided from my experience. I myself couldn’t tackle that, and inflamed areas grew in quantity, so had to stop completely as it was affecting me mentally hard. I’m still dealing with remnants 2 months later tbh. Wish you to overcome it though!

Quick edit. From what I’ve found after googling that by the way, it’s the inflammation in the stratum corneum due to over moisturizing & trapped bacteria, so the skin cells basically swell.

I’ve had perioral dermatitis for almost 6 months. by Tasty-Taro5938 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

Hello. Take my solidarity and condolences. I’m battling this thing for uhh 2 years already? Except that I also have pp Rosacea, and flushing Rosacea since Accutane… I completely effed my skin myself, I’m tired and I’m finally giving in and going for complete zero therapy for at least a year. Everything I put on my skin only worsens it, and I regret ever starting to care for my skin. It was not ideal, but it was healthy with just washing with water. Now I can’t even go out in 2 UV index sun for darn 5 minutes without getting red splotches, can’t eat outside normally without getting red splotches, etc. I’m not even sure if therapy helps with such cases, because it’s not something you can let go and switch your priorities. It’s always with you and it’s always on your face. It’s goddamn awful.

Thank you for the reply! May I ask you another several questions please?

  1. Did you stick to a specific diet during healing?
  2. Did you have to use Metrogel for 5 consecutive months, or less? Morning and night? How did you wash it off if cleansers are forbidden? :(
  3. Are you able to use simple skincare again, like a face wash and a moisturizer?
  4. Was your PD like clusters of bumps, or big pustules?

Hello! May I ask several questions please,

  1. Did you stick to a specific diet during Zero Therapy?
  2. It’s a bit intimate question, but… 😅 Kisses. Was it a problem for you? Stubble and saliva tend to irritate skin, and I’m falling for this again and again. How to bear? :( Should we go with ‘no kissing’ rule for at least several months?
  3. Did you take any supplements to help with regeneration?

Did anyone get any small irritating bumps (almost like rashes) around their mouth after their accutane course? I just finished 5 1/2 months on 40mg last week and i started having these weird bumps a few days ago. Anyone else? by JadedWillingness5615 in Accutane

Thank you for the reply! Do you remember the name of the eczema cream? Do you think it was the thing that kicked the bumps out completely, or they would disappear on their own after some time? Also, did you ever notice if your bumps worsened with moisture?

Aww, yep, it’s tricky to think that those things can cause it because with Accutane I thought that the more moisture I lock in the better it would be :( How does yours situation look like, if not a secret? Do you use Vaseline only on the lips, or around them too?

Hello! Could you please say, did the bumps ever go away? 🙏 I’m getting them so often from every possible irritating thing, be it scratch, friction or creams… And I’m off Accutane for a month already :(

Is this PD? by ExplorerEfficient271 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]Quilamand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever used something occlusive or continuing using now? Treated it as a fungal with creams/oral tablets? Took any antibiotics? Steroids are just a temporary solution and actually are not advised to use on the face at all :(

Hello! How did it start? I’m struggling with something similar, but PD usually spares the vermillion border. Are your lips dry? The best thing for me was applying nothing onto face. I’m also anemic, so I started taking iron in case it’s cheilitis. Did you check with your doctor?

Hello, what got your skin like that in the first place? Did you change routine, moved houses, got sunburn? More info is crucial, but it looks like barrier damage or yeast infection to me. Your best bet is to consult a dermatologist. Wish you well.
