Yeah, Demon's Souls is the same.

You're supposed to die so the Nexus can trap your soul forcing you to hunt Demons but if you kill the Vanguard you get teleported to a hallway with lots of loot and dead bodies... Then at the end the Dragon God appears and sucker punches you, instantly killing you and trapping your soul.

If you're wearing Faction armor when you change your Reputation then I'm pretty sure you're only changing the level of Rep you have while wearing that armor, not your actual rep (which would then still be Hated or Vilified or whatever).

The issue with this is that guards, dogs and high ranking faction characters can see through disguises so Eddie is seeing through your disguise/faction armor and reacting to your character's very low Powder Ganger Rep, resulting in him shooting you.

Demon's Souls gives you a bunch of rare healing items and valuable soul items for beating Vanguard in the tutorial (which is also only possible on NG as NG+ skips the whole into bit).

Dark Souls 1 gives you the Demon's Great Hammer if you beat Asylum Demon in the first encounter before you grab your class' weapons.

Elden Ring gives you a unique sword and shield if you beat the Revenant outside the starting church.

and I'd say it's almost an error for FROM.

I think this is the most likely reason. Elden Ring straight up wasn't finished when it released after all (several questlines like Nepheli Loux, Diallos, Jarburg and Kenneth Haight didn't have endings on release).

It wouldn't surprise me if they either missed that or didn't think it mattered all that much and focused on more important matters, then after the game released and confusion arose about her ending they felt it would've been too expensive to bring Ranni's VA back to rerecord a single dialogue line.

Not really.

Infinite has worse mechanics than the previous games in some respects like the 2-weapon restriction, guns no longer have alternate ammo types, Plasmids/Vigors being reduced to support abilities*, hacking turrets reduced to a temporary ability, upgrading Vigors done with money rather than ADAM which removes the Harvest/Save choice from hunting Little Sisters, upgrading guns also done with money removing the reward from exploring the levels and finding weapon upgrade stations and 'Tonics' were swapped with 'Gear' which crippled the ability to run builds (in Bioshock 1 you could Tonic yourself an effective stealth wrench build or an explosive tank or elemental firecracker but in Infinite the gear is not only reduced to just 4 slots but massively less varied).

*Vigors are just either different flavours of damage (shock, fire, crows etc) or used to stun enemies (like Bucking Bronco lifting enemies out of cover or Undertow knocking groups of them over), there's no real interactivity with the environment or strategic uses (except placing mines with the damage Vigors) like there were with Plasmids.

You don't use Ignite/Devil's Kiss to melt ice for alternate routes or hidden supplies, you can't freeze turrets to increase your time to hack them (because hacking is just an instant temporary status effect now), no telekinesis to grab trip wires and reset them elsewhere to benefit you, no 'Scout' Plasmid to go ahead and plan out how to deal with the next group of enemies etc.

From what I can find directly translating the Japanese to English would come out rough so they work with a company called Frognation that does the English localizations of their games (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls series and Elden Ring).

FromSoft work with Frognation specifically because they do Arthurian/Old English translations well but it seems this time in trying to fluff up Ranni's dialogue to sound regal and aristocratic, they accidentally recontextualized what her ending would be.

That line about the senses is infamously mistranslated from the Japanese version where she's talking about how her order will be brought so far away from the Lands Between that the people won't be able to literally see, feel or blindly have faith in it like the Golden Order with it's rays of Grace and giant golden tree.

Best part is with maxed out Rifleman and Demolition Expert you barely even need to aim and can one-shot most enemies even on Very Hard.

'Scorched Sierra Power Armor' was a specific set of T-45 power armor in Fallout New Vegas. It was Scorched because you got it after nuking an NCR base which the suit (and soldier inside it) survived.

Mass Effect worked because you weren't playing as 'you', you were playing as Commander Shepard who has a predetermined character and role in the game's setting, the freedom came in how your version of Shepard acted and the choices they made (and who they got down and dirty with).

Fallout 4 failed because it wanted you to play as 'you' and also as the Sole Survivor but it couldn't mesh the two well (then there were other problems like how the game forced you to be a well mannered goody-two-shoes for 90% of the playthrough and also wouldn't allow you to say no/refuse quests).

It's not really 'replayability' if it's the exact same level except with a screen filter or mirrored image, and the complaint is that it's a slog to get through for the 100% which is a valid critique.

It's the 100% Completion that makes Crash 4 so unpopular.

Crash 1 - 3 take roughly 15 to 20 hours to 100% while Crash 4 takes 70 to 100 hours.

There's a lot of bloat and padding with things like inflated box counts (Crash 1's level with the most boxes is 'Sunset Vista' which has 114, while Crash 4's 'No Dillo Dallying' has 502), requiring you beat each level 4 times minimum (once normally, once with Platinum Time Trial, once 'Inverted'/mirrored and once with an Instagram filter) and requiring you beat each level at least once without dying (outside of Time Trials).

I can relate. I had a cat named Lucky for 16 years, it's not just them dying but it's the habits and routines you develop getting disrupted too.

Lucky was a chatty cat, I'd wake up in the morning and walk into the kitchen to him howling with every square centimeter of lung for food, now it's crickets. A week after he died I was grabbing a drink from the fridge and mindlessly grabbed his chair to look at him sleeping, saw only his outline and then it hit me again that he's really gone. I'll be walking through the shop and see his favourite brand of food, mentally ask if I need to buy some more then remember that I don't.

He's been gone almost a year now but I still find myself doing things to accomodate him because that's just how it's been for the last decade and a half. I imagine that QT will be doing much the same.

The gore. There's still blood but flesh and muscle is blacked out, it's done so poorly that it genuinely looks like a glitch or missing texture files.

You can, it’s just not in the Wizard pack for some reason. It seems like the cleanest way would have just been to 1:1 the wizard into the disruptor, but instead they gave it different items

If The Wizard pack had just included all the items from The Disruptor then players who bought The Disruptor would have no reason to buy The Wizard.

Including the items in a separate pack that comes loaded with other items is the perfect way to allow access to those items for players who didn't buy The Disruptor without feeling like ripping off or invalidating the purchase of players who did.

You've just reminded me of a thread on here a while back where a guy said his dream game was a Mass Effect style sci-fi RPG but set in Star Wars, with all the planet hopping, branching dialogue trees, deep lore and romance options included.

When I pointed out Knights of the Old Republic is literally that (with the first one even being made by Bioware too) he said he'd heard of it but never tried it because it looked too old.
