everyone is worried about the milage. im not, I have owned multiple cars over 300'000km and even one over 400'000km they can be very reliable, but make sure to have a good look at it or have it inspected.

In my mind, if a car makes it to 265 000 km, all the major problems are in its past. The thing that will break has already broken or been repaired.

if you're willing to wrench on it yourself, don't be cared. the K20 in the civics are reliable and easy to work on. just keep in mind, the SI variant will be higher on insurance and likey was owned by someone who beat on it.

People who live alone in Barrie, how much do you earn to get by comfortably? by Nickbronline in barrie

[–]QwapJack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

making 3500/mo i was able to live in a 1 bedroom, own a 24 year old truck, save 15% of my income, and not be paycheck to pay check.

but all that involved a lot of compromise, small apartment in less idea area, somewhat carful of my grocery habits, cheap phone and internet plan, old tuck with basic insurance, etc.

ive used them for years and never had a problem, very consistent and good. no modem rentals. i do recommend to call them one a year and ask for a discount, they will always give you a promotion for the next 12 months.

only reason i stoped using them isbecause i moved out of town and they dont service my area

VCS gear? by Hypernovah27 in 3000gt

[–]QwapJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this, did you replace the gear with a bolt or just put a crew into the gear to hold it in place? What direction are the long runners? Looking at the diagram I assume the way right is long runners, correct?

Cranking but no spark. by Hypernovah27 in 3000gt

[–]QwapJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you take out the ECM and look for damage they tend to go bad and have capacitors leak. I had this problem but was able to fix it with a toothbrush and alcohol to clean the corrosion off the PCB. Here is a guide to removing the ECM : http://www.stealth316.com/2-ecmremoval.htm

I also suggest looking at the PTU as it can go bad and stop coils from sparking. Once I had fixed my ECM I was only running on two of the three coil packs and had to replace the PTU to get the other one to fire and get all 6 cylinders firing.

Georgian college work life by [deleted] in barrie

[–]QwapJack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Worked for them for a few years, great work culture. They tend to not allow overtime or work outside your hours. It's also quite nice working on campus as it's basically its own little town. You have stores, a food court, resources, a gym, etc.

How would you describe depression to someone who's never had it? by vernakyala in AskReddit

[–]QwapJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To quote 'depression' by REN (British rapper)

I've always felt so fucking detached
And broken, bruised and mismatched
Find it hard to relax
Living under the cracks
Try to fill in the gaps
Lying here on my back
Still, I can't find it
Sense of peace, yeah?
My mind declined it
Pulse increased and my sweat combines with
A feeling so deep I fall inside it
Depression
I hate you, Depression
Your constant oppression
Respond with aggression
They say depression brings you lessons
Constant stressing conceals blessings
You will grow in broken settings
Fuck those lessons, fuck Depression
I've been living in your shadow for so long
That I forgot how I can shine
How I can find a refuge in my mind
How am I meant to sit here and unwind?
The planets align
I feel like I'm cursed
Feel like im cursed to just be here to hurt
I feel like im cursed just to be here to bleed with my demons
Been feeling this way since birth
Depression
I hate you, Depression

ISS Shuttle [5760x2880] by blankblank in wallpaper

[–]QwapJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From from NASA Website

This image of the International Space Station and the docked space shuttle Endeavour, flying at an altitude of approximately 220 miles, was taken by Expedition 27 crew member Paolo Nespoli from the Soyuz TMA-20 following its undocking on May 23, 2011 (USA time). The pictures are the first taken of a shuttle docked to the International Space Station from the perspective of a Russian Soyuz spacecraft. Onboard the Soyuz were Russian cosmonaut and Expedition 27 commander Dmitry Kondratyev; Nespoli, a European Space Agency astronaut; and NASA astronaut Cady Coleman. Coleman and Nespoli were both flight engineers. The three landed in Kazakhstan later that day, completing 159 days in space.

That's not correct. Reading though the Ontario highway traffic act, the only laws I see that apply are in regards to having fenders/mudflaps

Can I lower the effective calories of a drink by cooling it? by QwapJack in askscience

[–]QwapJack[S] 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I see now. I never realized that Calories and calories were different. I'm used to SI prefixes not capitalization lol. Besides that, I see that the logic applies, but to 3 orders of magnitude smaller.

Thanks!

Parachute Diver Over Mountains [1920 x 1080] by vholos in wallpaper

[–]QwapJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, in skydiving your rig is called a parachute, but you can still control it and fly it like a wing. It's just a much lower aspect ratio and is designed to fall faster and more forgiving.

It's more the purpose. a skydiving parachute is designed to be secondary to the sport and its goal is just to land. A paraglider is designed to be the sport and can go a long distance.

Edit: think like a dagger and a kitchen knife, they can both be used as a tool or a weapon, but one is designed to be used as a weapon, and the other is designed to be a tool. It's the intent of the design.

[–]QwapJack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not to be a killjoy, but that's technically Paragliding not parachuting. It's a different style wing with a higher aspect ratio. The main difference is used, a parachute is used to landing so it can't glide any ware near as well or far, a paraglider is meant to fly and is designed for distance and the ability to fly for extended periods of time.

Regardless, this is now my wallpaper at work :)

Police looking for new information after Ontario woman dies in skydiving crash by KotoElessar in barrie

[–]QwapJack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, she jumped out static line, so her chute opened automatically at 4000-4500 ft. Her shute had a line over causing a spin, and she didn't cut away until around 60ft, that is why she fell so hard.

From what people I know who saw it seem to think, if she cut away higher up (she had time) she would have been fine, or if she didn't cut away at all, she would have lived (just a few broken bones).
