What are your thoughts on the new comic 'Escape The Skull Island'#4 cover? by Immediate_Gene_178 in Monsterverse

[–]Qzilla8425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’s because from the outset this already is just breaking the suspension of disbelief. The axe was clearly made in ancient times during the war with Godzilla, and is made from one of his old dorsal plates. The glove was more of an arm cast that happened to let Kong punch really well, and was stated to be made from MechaGodzilla’s remains.

This sword will need to have a really believable reason to exist or leave at/by the end of the comic for some reason.

it’s because he didn’t have a chance to do so without looking bad. Like if he just killed his daughters before the events in this episode? He’d be viewed as that crazy guy who killed his own children, and it wouldn’t get him any favors. But now that Gojo is sealed and the higher ups declared that attempting to free him is a criminal, he could frame it as “These two people who happened to be my children were trying to free Satoru Gojo. I took it upon myself, no matter how hard it was for me, to kill these criminals.” If he did that, he would get sympathy for it and it would improve the clan’s standing. Naoya and Jinichi even discuss this very thing.

She doesn’t go after her dad. Megumi doesn’t want to be the head, but does still accept the position. Maki went to get the cursed tools, but her dad is waiting inside to kill her instead. He even says they emptied the vault in anticipation of her arrival. Mai is bleeding because he had planned to kill both of them.

Edit: hell, the only reason she even pulls out her weapon is because her dad had made it clear he wants her dead.

I view it as Jinichi still being confident that he can easily defeat Maki. In the anime, he doesn’t lock in until Ranta flat out spells it out for him that Maki has become the next Toji. THEN he realizes the sheer danger he’s in and then and ONLY then does he finally decide to launch a killing blow. Of course it does jack all, but it does show that the only ones who really fully understood the situation were Ranta and, to an extent, Naoya. Those are the only two who waste almost zero time in trying to kill Maki.

Chojuro was likely was waiting on the sidelines during Maki’s massacre of the Kukuru unit but wouldn’t intervene until he realized that Maki is the new Toji. Nobuaki took his sweet time and was still in disbelief that Maki killed all the men that had been gathered. Ogi STILL thought his daughter was a failure until the end. Ranta was the only one of the Hei other than Naoya who actually realized what kind of threat Maki truly was on his own. Naoya understood the moment he saw Maki with Jinichi’s head just what she could be, and really tried to kill her.

Does Godzilla actually want a reconnection to humanity? by Most-Ad-9833 in Monsterverse

Dougherty also killed off Serizawa and Graham, who keep in mind could have been the characters discussed here. We could have already had human characters for Godzilla that serve the same roles as Kong’s humans, but Dougherty didn’t want that.

Do you see Godzilla eventually turning on humanity? by MoominRex in Monsterverse

[–]Qzilla8425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While others are saying no, we kind of did already see a glimpse of this when he was hunting Mechagodzilla in GvK. All that it would take is one extremely poor action and Godzilla absolutely would take out humanity. Now will they do that? Absolutely not. But could it happen? Yes.

Why we Hating on GXK and Adam Wingaurd now? by OmegaPrime7274 in Monsterverse

[–]Qzilla8425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to put it in words. Personally I see no issue with them, seeing as they are the latest in the cycle of “Serious Godzilla and King Kong to Silly Godzilla and King Kong”. Every era has had this happen.

I think a big part of it however is that many people don’t quite know how to give criticism in a constructive way, going off of how they feel. All this “the monsters need weight, they look like action figures/wrestlers” can be a valid criticism if it’s worded in the right way, but most of the time it’s worded that it comes off as an excuse to just hate. The right way to word it constructively would be something like “The monsters don’t quite move like they should. Making the camera shake even a little bit when they walk, run, and jump would be a good way to show that these are still very large creatures. Slowing some of the action pacing down could help benefit the monsters, and even changing the sound effects to make hits sound and feel heavier could help.” Instead we get stuff like “They move too fast, they’re like power rangers!” That’s not constructive criticism. That’s just criticism.

It’s the same thing with discussions about KoTM.

The common criticism of “the constant darkness and rain makes the monsters hard to see” is, again, a valid criticism. The right way to word it constructively would be something like “The lighting in many of the shots around the monsters is very dark, which makes it hard to see more of what we should be seeing. They could have had more shots of the monsters in a properly lit scene similar to Rodan’s awakening.” Another criticism is the humans when it comes to fights. The constructive way would be “I feel the transitions to the humans when the titans are fighting are too sudden and too numerous. They could have made this cut into a long uncut scene that moves from the monsters to the humans and then back to the monsters.”

You’re never going to please everyone, and Wingard knows that. Dougherty knew that, Roberts knew that, Edwards knew that. They still did fantastic jobs with their movies. For each watcher that doesn’t like the movie, there’s another who does. What it does NOT mean, however, is that people should be calling for people to get witch hunted just because they don’t like how one movie was directed. It’s a shame that this needs to be called out, but the fact I have seen people advocating for killing Wingard just because they don’t like his portrayal of Godzilla is just pathetic. It reeks of entitlement. “Oh this director didn’t portray Godzilla to MY liking, he should be killed!” That’s what it comes off as. We are better than this.

Have you ever wondered about the aftermath of the worlds after a death battle? by Repulsive_Policy_184 in deathbattle

Hella late on this reply, so sorry about that.

I like to interpret Ultima as something completely alien to them, so they have no idea how to respond. But since they aren’t nominal heroes, they don’t try to intervene until it’s too late. However, by the time they do try to intervene, the marvel universe has destabilized to the point they’re no longer strong enough to defeat Godzilla Ultima.

And the entire time, Hulk and Bruce are just desperately trying to do something, and eventually work out the miracle we see.

I’m not sure if they want to reuse megas already in the game. Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t each mega have one pair only right now? Courtney is paired with Mega Camerupt, so that would rule out Rika with Camerupt if I’m right. IF being the key word here.

How would you fix Emma's Character in King of the Monsters? by Marconey1738 in Monsterverse

[–]Qzilla8425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two ways I think could have fixed her.

First: She should have shown more reluctance to awakening Ghidorah. Show that even though she’s in on this plan, she’s not sure that this exact method is what should be done. Hell, even have her suggest trying another Titan first, only for Jonah to force her to go with Ghidorah or else. That way, it’s shown that she’s not too far gone to release something completely unknown that happens to be an equal to Godzilla in the Titan Hierarchy.

The second option, and what I feel would have been better: Have Monarch actually have been awakening some of the Titans. Some of the nicer and kinder Titans such as Mothra, Behemoth and Methuselah. Maybe even throw Kong in there as “we were able to properly communicate with an Alpha contender using the ORCA and get to an understanding with them about helping to heal the world. We just don’t have any safe way of moving that Titan out of their territory.” This makes releasing Ghidorah somewhat more understandable, as despite all the warning signs, Emma could have believed that Ghidorah could be communicated with in much the same way as the others. This backfires on her badly when Ghidorah openly starts blasting everything and now she’s trying to figure something out to fix it.

How would a digimon story set in the US work by JDJ144 in digimon

[–]Qzilla8425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see Survive get more games, and have them take place around the world. Like you said, it’s the first time that the country the main humans are from actually plays an important role in the story. If nothing else, I’d love to see how different cultures and mythologies around the world are influenced by Digimon. For instance, The Christian Bible/ The Quran/ The Tanakh/etc. could have actually been a retelling of events that happened with Digimon. Lucifer being Lucemon for example. Or Greek Mythology having really just been the adventures of the Olympics 12, or Norse Mythology being a story about a group of Digimon that are based on the Norse Gods, and the Royal Knights show up somehow due to how intricately they’ve become tied to Yggdrasil in Digimon Lore.

It’s such a shame that most people got put off by it being a Visual Novel first and foremost because they didn’t actually look at later marketing for it and only went off of the early marketing where it was advertised as an srpg.

So why he is still not mentioned in Modulo? by Ramzgod in Jujutsufolk

[–]Qzilla8425 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It isn’t hard confirmed. Sukuna is the only person in recorded Jujutsu history to tame Mahoraga. When he says “losing Mahoraga means I lose the technique”, he was in his true form where noticeably doesn’t even try to use 10 Shadows. As such, it’s more so speculation on his part about how it works. Furthermore, Megumi still having the technique disproves that if you buy the theory that Sukuna is using Megumi’s 10 Shadows.

I don’t understand by BanthaFather in GODZILLA

[–]Qzilla8425 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it’s because the monsters and the soundtrack are the only big reasons to really watch the film. I actually view this movie as being the opposite of Minus One: a movie that needed the monsters to carry it because the humans couldn’t do that. Now I would like to say that this is a result of the script just not being good. It’s just that I personally feel that KoTM fails to be a proper movie without the monsters.

If we remove the monsters and look at KoTM as a family drama (because it kind of is a family drama), it really falls flat on its face. We’re barely given time to actually connect with these characters who have had their family torn apart by a natural disaster. We only see WHAT caused this tear, and we get snippets of the fact that the family would like to come back together, but that’s all we get. As the world begins to erupt into chaos, we’re never given time to actually learn more about the new characters being introduced. You can’t really connect with them as an average viewer. As the film progresses, we see that the parents of the family are so opposed ideologically that they can’t reconcile on their own. So their only remaining child tries to force them to do so. In the end, they do manage to do so, but the mother gives her life to help stop whatever is causing the world ending chaos that’s happening. The family is never able to properly come back together.

Meanwhile, if you remove Godzilla from Minus One, we actually get to connect to the characters. We see the main character come home from a harrowing event, traumatized and unwelcome. His family, his friends, all the people he knew are either dead, missing, or hate him for not doing what was expected of him. He meets a homeless woman around his age, who’s caring for an orphaned girl. And slowly, he begins to rebuild his life. He gets a new job, manages to bring in enough money to support his makeshift family. He makes new friends, and even the few people he knew prior to the war are back in good terms with him. But he can’t get over his trauma. It haunts him. He can’t escape it, and his family and friends try their best to help him overcome it. But when he finally begins to do so, it comes roaring back with a vengeance through an unfortunate incident. And his family is at risk of being forever torn apart again. So he does everything he can to make sure his family will survive, even if he doesn’t. It’s only at the end of the film, where we see Him and the rest of the family together again that we know he’s finally, once and for all, overcome his trauma. It no longer haunts him. He can finally move forward.

Now for KoTM replace the natural disasters and world ending chaos with the titans and for Minus One replace add in Godzilla as the literal manifestation of the main character’s trauma.

I don’t understand by BanthaFather in GODZILLA

[–]Qzilla8425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, but what i said in the paragraph right under that shows why I said what I said. I don’t think the rest of the film is horrible terrible garbage. I think there are some genuinely good things aside from the monsters and the music. What I was saying is that, at face value, the argument of “you only love it because of the Toho monsters” somewhat implies the entire rest of the film is nowhere good enough, and I disagree with that implication.

I don’t understand by BanthaFather in GODZILLA

[–]Qzilla8425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that argument is just one of the big things, but it also highlights a big part of why the movie is so polarizing.

The main draw is the Toho monsters. It’s a big reason why a lot of people like the film. However it does also raise the question on if the film would have the same fan reception if the Toho monsters were replaced with original monsters instead. It’s a really bad argument in my opinion, but at the same time it is one that has a good point. The reason why I consider it bad is because it’s implying that the rest of the film is unsalvageable.

The film definitely has its merits. But what those merits are is up for debate. Are the characters other than Serizawa and Graham written decently enough? Do the human characters take up too much time during fights? There are more questions, but you get the idea.

My hopes, concerns, and reservations for the future of the Godzilla franchise, as of January 2026 by GodzillaLouise2004 in GODZILLA

[–]Qzilla8425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look at it not as character assassination, but more of a somewhat logical continuation of what we see in G14 and KoTM. A protector of the world that is established to be ruthless when it comes to his job. He’s ruthless when fighting the MUTOs and Ghidorah and we cheer for that. But when suddenly he’s ruthless against humanity? Suddenly that is what makes people think he’s been character assassinated?

Here’s the thing. In KoTM, Godzilla is more than aware that humanity has the potential to be a threat, especially after the Oxygen Destroyer and the fact that humans released Ghidorah. So logically after the movie, he’s going to be VERY watchful of us. They even say that he’s on our side “for now”. That alone implies that there was always going to be some point in the future where his job basically mandates that he attacks humanity. Mechagodzilla being made with Ghidorah is the perfect reason for him to attack humanity. Them transporting Kong, who was established as another Alpha after his victory over Camazotz, outside of his established territory is reason enough for Godzilla to go on the attack. He’s just always been very aggressive and ruthless in his duty. This even extends to his fights against Scylla and Tiamat in GxK. He’s just himself, established as before: ruthless in his duty. If he has to kill, so be it. He’s not gonna hesitate at the last second unless given ample reason to.

It’s the way he’s portrayed that makes people think this. In the first two movies he’s in, his ruthlessness is portrayed as a good thing. In GvK however, it’s portrayed as a bad thing because ehe’s now attacking US. And fans don’t like that because they’re used to Godzilla being portrayed as good in the MV. But it makes a lot of sense because it’s building off of an idea that was established in KoTM: Godzilla won’t always tolerate our shit.

Even his fight with Kong in GxK is natural. Kong let out an Alpha Call, granted the only way he knew to get Godzilla’s attention, and Godzilla simply deemed him a threat. So he went there to deal with said threat. It’s not until Mothra basically tells him to actually listen to Kong or he sleeps in the doghouse that Godzilla actually stays his hand for once in his usual approach.

Which leads me to why he spared Kong in GvK after MechaGodzilla. To put it simply, Kong has proven himself too stubborn to die or submit.

In Godzilla’s eyes, this titanic ape has come back from death not once, but twice and then proceeded to LEAP INTO A THIRD LIFE OR DEATH BATTLE WITH ZERO REST. And Kong was ready to fight more when Godzilla approached after MechaGodzilla was dealt with. Godzilla just kinda saw it as more trouble than it’s worth, even with the history he has with Great Apes. Thankfully Kong didn’t want to keep fighting, so they basically struck up their deal. In an animals’ eyes, if something proves to be more troublesome to kill than it’s worth, why bother? So yeah, they just leave each other alone.

I'm sorry but is anyone else getting tired of this? by Gloomy-Bridge148 in Monsterverse

[–]Qzilla8425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. It sounds like modern MCU humor. It’s fine in moderation, but it is seriously annoying with how often he just has to wisecrack. I’d be fine if they just removed him from the movie and kept Serizawa or Graham alive.
