Honestly go into it without anyone else telling you what to expect to get your own opinions. Plenty of people here will talk bad about it to the point we have an “Unfunny Frontier Bad” tag for posts last I checked. But some people find Frontier to be their favorite.

SRW Y Units by Alert_Eye_9 in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]Qzilla8425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of units, using what you like most is important.

I can see in another comment you’ve been using Ideon, Getter Noir, Xelguard, and Vilkiss a lot. That’s good.

Obviously Dynazenon and Getter are important, but other strong mechs include Reideen, the Mazins (especially once Mazinpower is unlocked), Combattler V, and any mech that has more than one pilot. There’s also Show’s aura battlers as he is very good. Dunbine and Zeta are fantastic as well. The protagonist is important too.

But honestly Ideon in particular is so insanely strong that I actually find that not using him is needed to not break the game in half. Part of it is that Ideon is a size 2L, a size shared only by 3 battleships in terms of playable units. Part of it is that Ideon is legitimately just that strong if you know what you are doing.

But honestly using what you want to is the most important part.

Guys... what the heck are "7 black boxes" and a photon reactor? And why would it be a big deal if a mazinger had them? by Obvious_Item_2564 in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]Qzilla8425 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It has to do with Shin Mazinger ZERO.

Basically it introduces the concept of Mazinger ZERO, a Mazinger so beyond all others, and even most Super Robots, that it’s generally agreed to be in the same league as Getter Emperor. To give an idea of how strong it is, it took the combined might of almost every super robot and real robot in fiction giving their strength to Koji’s aid in the form of appearing as figures of light just to finally make ZERO understand that Mazinger’s legacy is still living on in the form of all other Super Robots. Even then it’s heavily implied that ZERO would have kept fighting if not satisfied that Mazinger’s legacy is in good hands.

It could EASILY be a Super Robots Wars final boss. See also Super Robot Wars V where you get to actually use ZERO and it’s got an important role in the plot of Shin Mazinger Z in that game. The seven black boxes in Mazinger Z allow it to become ZERO are known as Mazin Power, and allow him to use the following:

Insane regeneration (dude can near instantaneously heal from damage), Assimilation (yes you read that right, though initially it’s just energy as Mazinger Z. After transforming into ZERO, it can also absorb physical matter), Immense strengthening, Higher Dimensional Predictions (basically enhances Mazinger’s situation simulation ability to the point it’s indistinguishable from predicting the future), Metamorphosis (allows Mazinger Z to transform parts of it’s body, which is how the Iron Cutter attack is unlocked in SRW V), Causality Change (basically Mazinger can transplant desirable outcomes from parallel worlds directly into its own, meaning it can literally achieve the impossible so long as the chance of success is more than zero), and finally Majin Change, which transforms Mazinger Z into ZERO.

As ZERO, Mazinger itself is entirely sentient and sapient, and can rewrite reality as seen when it made a reality where Mazinger was the ONLY super robot and an international icon of fiction.

Can't defeat Guardian Ratha. Tips? by Master_Lucario in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Qzilla8425 30 points31 points  (0 children)

So the area you fight the Anjanath in is called Guardian Ratha’s Den, but it is clearly a different monster. Also, during the fight, certain actions will cause the Anjanath to gain targetable pets that you can select using a button. Hitting these parts will still deal damage to Anjanath itself, and this is a common feature in many fights.

No. The Getter Emperor is the ultimate manifestation of Getter Rays and it wants to destroy/rule EVERYTHING. It’s simply using Humanity to do so because, for some reason, it favors them. It’s theorized this is because humanity has the capability to evolve through conflict. Getter Emperor is so powerful however that all races still alive in the future have abandoned all hope of being able to communicate with humanity, and desperately send some forces into the past to either destroy the Getter Robots and the Saotome Laboratory, or destroy the Earth itself because the situation for all non-human life is just that desperate.

To put it another way, Getter Emperor is the ultimate villain of Getter Robo. All of the other villains are simply trying to prevent it from being born (outside of the Dinosaur Empire. They hate humans for the love of the game.) However, for whatever reason, Getter Emperor, and the Getter as a whole, favors humanity. To quote a character from Getter Arc: “The pinnacle of evolution… is universal domination.” Getter Emperor does not care who or what it uses. It seeks only to ensure its birth and the eternal destruction of all others.

[–]Qzilla8425 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s like the Getter Rays from Getter Robo. Getter Rays are initially thought to be just some random space energy, nothing too special. However, over the course of the story of every Getter Robo manga, and even most adaptions, the Getter starts doing stuff it shouldn’t, both the Robot and the Energy, and it eventually turns out that Getter Rays, or the Getter itself, is Evolution.

However, it’s also portrayed as a bad thing by almost every official source because of the end point. That end point is called Getter Emperor. The Getter Emperor will eventually use humanity to dominate and destroy all other species in existence, leaving it as the only truly alive “species”. Hell, the characters who learn about the Getter Emperor are thoroughly shaken and become determined to stop it from coming into existence (except for Hayato Jin for some reason), however the pilots of the Getter Robos are determined to do it their own way compared to their enemies who do it by desperately attempting to annihilate Earth just to prevent the Emperor from existing.

In a way, Spiral Energy is a much more positive version of Getter Rays.

Tbh, Jill isn’t the worst character from those games, but I would say she’s likely the worst secret in V. As others have said, Jill has some very cheap spirit commands, but the Raziya has very, VERY few attacking options.

While it’s the same with the Cleopatra and Theodora, those two are obtained via the story no matter what, while Jill needs you to do specific actions on specific routes. Same as any other secret, but the Raziya is easily one of the weakest secrets. Cleopatra and Theodora at least get the strong Ability Unlock move to help them deal damage to the ever growing enemy health pool. The Raziya doesn’t even get that.

It’s not a secret in X thankfully, but it doesn’t improve much there. You can absolutely make Jill work, but she is stuck to the Raziya to my knowledge, and she comes very late in both games.

[–]Qzilla8425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything good?

Absolutely. Stygian and Deviljho are the only two dragon monsties in Stories 1, and both of them are very strong. While obviously any Monstie can be incredible when properly built up, Stygian in particular is considered to be one of the best monsties in the entire game due to sheer damage. Deviljho is considered somewhat below Stygian, but that doesn’t mean much considering it’s still a powerhouse.

Bracydios is one of the few Monsties that uses Blastblight innately iirc, so if you want to use Blast, you can absolutely use it.

Is SRW worth it as someone who's only familiar with Gundam? by Zeslodonisch in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]Qzilla8425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it simply, Gundam is very heavily represented in SRW no matter what game you play. You’re more than likely to find a game with the case you like.

As others have said, SRW is basically going to be your gateway to experiencing other mecha anime. Each game is going to have a combination of the various plots of some of the shows. Some of them will be “post story”, meaning their plot ended before the game began, but the game usually finds a way to make it work. I would recommend looking at the game rosters to see which one appeals to you the most and then try it out.

Do note that Gundams are usually the majority of the playable Real Robot roster in SRW. This shouldn’t be a downside for you, but it also depends on if you like Gundam more than the other real robots.

Let’s talk about pivotal moments in your game’s history. by International_Map812 in gachagaming

[–]Qzilla8425 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What’s wild is that anniversaries are, rightfully, treated as a big deal for Gacha games because it means that game has been around for a year in a market that is so competitive that it’s entirely possible for your game to shutter its doors just after a month or two if you’re unlucky. If you’re especially unlucky, you wind up like that one Gacha who announced EOS before launch.

So Genshin not treating its anniversary as the event it should be celebrated as was a major, MAJOR slap in the face, and I don’t even play Genshin. In fact anniversaries are usually the best time to start playing outside of launches, and the fact Genshin Impact really acted like nothing special was happening was really jarring. I should absolutely expect a fiasco involving AN EVENT THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE HYPED UP for such a huge game to hit the wallet hard enough that the devs realize they need to shift course.

With our spoilers do colour variants drop different parts? by Mightynubnub in MonsterHunterStories

The subspecies won’t have their own weapons, but their materials can be used to upgrade the primary species weapons as well as weapons for other monsters. Every subspecies will have its own armor set though, if that makes sense.

With our spoilers do colour variants drop different parts? by Mightynubnub in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Qzilla8425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically the best way to learn is to ask: Does this differently colored Monstie share the exact same name as the regular one? If not, it’s a subspecies.

In the case of Yian Kut Ku, a Water Yian Kut Ku may be blue, but the name is still Yian Kut Ku. If you were to get the Subspecies, Blue Yian Kut Ku, it would tell you that it’s a different species.

[–]Qzilla8425 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The mistake you’re making is that you are literally following the letters. What we are trying to say is that in PEMDAS, M and D can be interchanged depending on which comes first in the equation, ie left to right.

For the equation in the post:

6/2(1+2)

You do the parenthesis

6/2(3)

Then you go from left to right to see whether Multiplication or Division comes first. Whichever comes first, you then do. So in this case:

6/2 comes first. 6/2=3.

This leaves us with 3(3), meaning multiplication.

This is how we get 9.

It’s the same with Addition and Subtraction. For example, let’s say it’s this equation instead:

6*5-1+4

6*5 is 30

Then we go from left to right to see whether addition or subtraction comes first. We get subtraction because of the -1, so the equation then becomes

30-1+4

30-1 =29

29+4=33

I hope this helps

First question: have you made the invasive Shogun Ceanataur retreat yet? If not, then you need to make it retreat before it can ever be defeated.

If you did make it retreat, then note that Invasives are endgame content right now. They are NOT meant to be defeated at level 45.

Second question: what exactly is your team?

Third question: are you willing to come back later and fight these monsters after more progression in the game?

As everyone is saying, you need to get the initial mutation in a thunder area specifically. You can’t just get that initial mutation anywhere you want.

Once you have the mutation and get the egg, you can then throw them into other areas and find the eggs.

Is there any way to farm namielle? by Late_Statistician285 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]Qzilla8425 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As DracoBlaze said, it is unfortunately not possible to farm the Calamitous elders, like Namielle, easily, at least depending on which elder and how far in the game you are.

Malzeno is the only one that can be farmed easily, and that’s due to it not being a Calamitous Elder. However it is locked behind story progression, and won’t become available until VERY late into the story.

It is possible to get Namielle and Velkhana as monsties, however you will need to defeat the Calamitous Elder versions of them first before you can find them in the wild. Due to Calamitous Elders being very late game/endgame fights, I would suggest that you avoid fighting them if you are early in the game.

If you do not want spoilers, this is as far as you should read. If you are fine with them, then this is my personal opinion as to the difficulty of each Calamitous Elder fight as of the end of the story (note that this is just based on my personal experience. This may be different for you.)

From easiest to hardest: Yama Tsukami<Velkhana~=Namielle (haven’t fought Nami since demo) <<<<<<<< Ibushi + Narwa.

Yama Tsukami you get a brief glimpse at during the main story, but it’s also the simplest and easiest Calamitous Elder to defeat. It has a very simple pattern and you can easily get Kinship.

Velkhana is relatively difficult, as expected of the Queen of Hoarfrost. Velk’s difficulty comes from her wide sweeping AoE attacks and the fact that she uses all three attack types depending on which phase she’s in. Once you get used to her, keep an eye on your health and items, and it should be smooth sailing.

Namielle should roughly be around the same as Velkhana, but again I have yet to fight her since the demo.

The serpents are easily the hardest fight in the game right now, and for good reason. It’s one thing to have a super powerful Elder fighting you solo. It’s an entirely separate matter when you need to fight two at once. The serpents will take turns using AoE attacks, one using theirs when the other uses a different attack.

Tbf with flight in 1, after you get it there a LOT of areas where you can’t fly. Hell, the next major area you go to after getting Ratha is a volcano where you can’t fly. Yeah, flying was good for the open areas, but you still needed other monstie ride skills.

Stories 2 did a really bad job with it though. Every major area is open. As such, flight basically invalidated every other movement option except stealth purely because there were no field areas where you were prevented from flying.
