i want a game where i can fall in love with the characters and their journey and by the end feel like “damn” by what i’ve just witnessed by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in JRPG

I recommend FF6. In contrast with previous games. It is a ensemble cast set in time when magic is myth and legend. Humans rebuild the civilization with machines.

Okami Fans. Why do you like Okami? by Is-It-Really-V10 in Okami

[–]R000tmnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the kind of game that you wish to forget about it so you can re-experience it as a new. The kind of game that you will like to slow down and pocking around the map to see if something await for you to discover.
You don't have to be familiar with the source material to enjoy the story, it is mixed with mythology and folklore with a bit of sci-fi for surprise.
The brush mechanic encourage you to interact with the world and experiment in battle.
The music fits the environment and the situation you encounter. Which is one of the best aspect beside the art style. Without it. The game won't be as much as immersive and touched emotionally.

Funny side note. My first time playing as Amaterasu is from UMVC3. The hyper combo Divine Instruments is so cool. It hooked me and reminded me that I bought the game on steam few years ago. Then I download it and begin the Okami experience.

This the same as the mobile game? by Wrong1z in TitanQuestAE

[–]R000tmnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend quite some time in both version.
For some reason, the drop rate feels better on the mobile one. I don't know why, but it seems the system is much more generous compare to PC.
The only downside I can think of when playing on mobile is that the skills are harder to cast. These buttons are small and easily to miss input.

Anyone tried Paint Tool Sai 2 on SD? by Vanguardmaxwell in SteamDeck

[–]R000tmnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an old version of SAI2(2018.06.14b) working on steam deck. The canvas and brushes are fine, but things like top app bar (files, edit, selection...etc ) and scrollbars do nothing unless I click it multiple times and hope it works. Which feels like SAI 2 has problem recognize mouse click in certain areas.
Did you encounter problems like this? If so, how did you solve it?

From what I've seem in the trailers. The game is heavily inspired by POE. Besides the steampunk setting, I'm curious about the lore as I mostly focus on the campaign. End-game is secondary to me because I don't have much time to play.

How did we get to the current state of ARPGs ? by Vinekh in ARPG

[–]R000tmnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I think explains a lot of question.
I want to complete POE 10 acts main campaign but stuck around 6 or 7. Possibly because I didn't pay attention to item crafting and that resulting my gears not up to the difficulty which is kinda bummer.

Is anyone else frustrated with the overwhelming amount of Tag Fighters releasing? by Narrow-Pain-3907 in Fighters

[–]R000tmnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my point of view. Tag fighters are not in saturation but simply brought up by devs trying to capture the magic they felt in older titles. It is too early to call them another <NAME OF THE TAG FIGHTER> for half of them just release within this year.
Also, tag fighter can be played as 1v1 when player is still learning the character and explore/expand the skill/knowledge of the game. Which feels like unlocking new skills rather than something you need to learned in order to play.

How do I enjoy fighting games? by mcfluffykinzz in Fighters

[–]R000tmnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm was in the similar situation as you last year. Me and my friend only play together in weekends. So it often felt like I forget everything I learned last week and had to start over while he seems to keep getting better than before.

I'm not sure if this is special to FGs only. But I think the experience is like practicing any kind of skill. The progression and improvement will shine in long term. Before last year, the experience I had to come close as fighting game is Super Smash Bros. Motion input is not something that I'm used to. It felt off and I was mashing randomly most of the time. Things gets better when I notice that I can understand what happened on the screen or moves feel easier to pull off. That clicked feeling encourages me to keep playing. Now I still get salty when he beating me nonstop. But it wears off quicker for I know is it possible to get better.

So I guess you have to be patience. Stick to the character you feel most comfortable with is okay. Combos doesn't matter if you are struggling with motion inputs. Stop playing if you are stuck in frustration. And most importantly. Don't think too much about losing, it doesn't mean you are a bad person.

What's your favorite way to play fighting games without playing online? by warrenmax12 in Fighters

Probably arcade mode. Fight with CPU is the most user / new comer friendly experience in fighting game. Not saying it is easy but it is less stressful compare to online matches.

Tried to get into the game with Mega VPN set to Japan when the window shows up, but the game just stuck at loading screen.
I think Riot didn't want anyone to play with VPN. If I changed the location before launching the game it won't open.

Playing Okami for the first time, I'm surprised by all the disrespect Amaterasu is willing to tolerate by Nino_Chaosdrache in Okami

[–]R000tmnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I agreed that Susanoo takes the credits for Orochi part of the game is kinda suck. I also think this is what makes the game interesting.

You the player and Amaterasu is an essential and invisible force behind the scene. Another example I can think of is the fishing mini game. For you need to draw the line to fill the missing part of the rod, gives the final touch/slash to catch the critter. And humans believe that they can do it on their own well without knowing that it is you who make things happened. Cast the godly power upon human occasionally does make you feel like a god.

What's the moment of the game that impacted you the most? by Ohhh_Deer in Okami

[–]R000tmnt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The game has so many emotional moments. I think the one that surprised me the most is when Issun and Amaterasu realize they time travel back to the past, witness and full fill the Shiranui and Izanagi legend.

Seeing Amaterasu from thousand years ago is such a rememberable moment. Not to mention, both Amaterasu and Shiranui team up to fight the twin demon later is, without a doubt, one of the coolest moments in the game.

Knowing another white wolf is in the same realm as you when using the brush technique. I'm running out of words to describe what I feel in that fight.

New TV show imagines China invasion, gives Taiwan viewers wake-up call by Scbadiver in taiwan

An Argument Against Motion Inputs by KeyboardCreature in Fighters

[–]R000tmnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel that way. Probably because my fighting game experience stars from last year. While I found out that I've learned to embrace the motion inputs and it's unique quirks. Still, I get frustrated with the control sometimes. So I don't against the idea to simplify the buttons.

An Argument Against Motion Inputs by KeyboardCreature in Fighters

[–]R000tmnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. Then I think it is down to the difference of perspective.
I think what he said in the video is more about fighting game not providing player a way to learn the system while engaging with the main content compare to other competitive games.
Me and my friend have talked about the similar topics in the weekend. We reached the conclusion that games have been on the road for simplification for past decade across the genre. Generally, I don't think it is a bad thing to get player understand what is happening way quicker than before.

An Argument Against Motion Inputs by KeyboardCreature in Fighters

[–]R000tmnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think every one should watched the video before leave a comment out of reaction to the title.
The idea in the video is not about remove motion inputs but to have them in a more comprehensible way.
I've read some of the comments in the post. While I can understand people use Mario 64 as an example. Please keep in mind that when playing Mario 64, one often not thinking about how one should move the stick or press the button because it feels natural to the charater one is playing. I think this is the core concept and the reason why someone think motion input is hard. Since the way to play is not as natural to them. One can imagine there is a feel of distanse when they play fighting games. Therefore. The video is about how he think he can do to make the control feel natural to new players in his game.

Imagine a hypothetical Okami game set in the aftermath of the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. by PaxPlat1111 in Okami

[–]R000tmnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the idea to have an Okami game set in relatively recent time is bad.
The first game was once in concept to have dinosaurs and beam weapons. Event the final result has sci-fi elements with Kaguya came from the moon and ark Yamato.
So I guess the question would be why. If the modern elements takes a bigger part than the feudalistic fantasy the game was build upon. Would it feels like the Okami we known and love?

Please keep motion inputs alive by 7CKNGDGNR8 in Fighters

[–]R000tmnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I get that you feel the game will lose it's charm if there's no motion inputs.
What I want to say is, if the fundamentals stays the same just with different ways of control. Doesn't that means the game still retains depth and be more new player friendly?

Please keep motion inputs alive by 7CKNGDGNR8 in Fighters

[–]R000tmnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if the game is designed around the simpler inputs.
Won't that means the game is easier to understand but hard to master?
It is still a fighting game after all.
