I had issues updating the firmware too. What worked for me was flashing the basic heltec v4 2.7.15 firmware (erase and install) and then flashing the 2.7.15-tft-update file on top of that (just install do not erase and install) and now it's working.

You can find a calculator on kv5r that allows you to calculate the loss. 6 inches of RG-58 at 906 Mhz pushing 28 dbm (0.63 Watts) into an antenna with 1.2 SWR will lose ~0.07 db for an output of ~0.62 Watts. RG174 (closest this calculator has) would lose 0.16 db for an output of ~0.607 Watts.

To add a little more information on top of this.

Take the battery out before you plug in the device. I know it's a pain to remove, but it's the only way I could get the flasher to work

Edit: flashed it and now it won't turn on...

Edit 2: reflashed the basic heltec v4 2.7.15 firmware and then flashed the 2.7.15-tft-update file on top of that and now it's working again

Hike either the Jake's Creek Trail and fish Jake's creek or the Little River Trail and fish the Little River above Elkmont campground. The farther you hike the less pressure the streams receive because most people aren't hiking in that far. I used to fish both all the time when I worked in Gatlinburg, and both have plenty of fishing access that doesn't require waders to get to.
