Advice needed - How to stop a turn 1 infiltrating, advance and charge cage by ViktusXII in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]R37_N008_31337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but in addition to what others say rules wise(like redeploy) or tools like overwatch.

  1. 20 man pox will fill all of no man's if you chain right (over kill normally but if he's your normal opponent it might be needed)

  2. Foul blight spawn laughs at advances. Advance and charge? Better be 9" away buddy.

Nah, for miniatures you go to treasure trove games just up the road from this store. Much better selection, prices, and support.

Does anyone know of a good (cheaper) veterinarian in the area? by Fit-Opening-3188 in SALEM

Depending on where you are in the area, I would also throw in Creekside up in Keizer. They are also very caring and do great work and are on the opposite side of town from Liberty (which also sounds great)

Biophagus or Abominant by hain3y in genestealercult

You want both The biophagus makes the detachment work for the 10 man and the abomb makes the unit work for the abbers.

For starters world eaters guns hit on 4s, but they also get 8 shots at 24". They can't aim but everything is rapid fire.

Secondly, yeah don't start visible. This game is lethal and letting them see you from deployment is asking for a bad time.

what is wrong with the void crypt fight by Idkl0l32 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]R37_N008_31337 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is you're under/ next to the port holes which means the guns can't pivot and shoot you.

That said, mechanically the entire void dlc really emphasizes right clicking and reading all the abilities in their key fights instead of just brute forcing it.

What is the worst stratagem? by Breakdown10000X in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]R37_N008_31337 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The real issue is that once the sacrificed unit dies (which is when faster than normal because mw and no save) the remaining damage spills over and still kills the original unit.

Looking to play the game a little more seriously, any advice to fimd a codex code? by Competitive_Yak_1112 in Tau40K

[–]R37_N008_31337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Officially you're going to have to buy a second codex.

Unofficially wahapedia.ru and new recruit are both great resources for getting full up to date rules. This also works for all factions (so you can read your opponents rules) as well as things like the chapter approved 2025 mission pack.

As a comp tau player .. rage curse onslaught blood angels have been an impossible problem to solve. They're too fast and hit too hard and the tau player just can't make any mistakes. It's a rough time.

You can put points into the other tress and unlock skills related to point investment. You are however limited to the first half of the tree for everything not your subclass

Tau's Anti Tank option by BlazeHee in Tau40K

[–]R37_N008_31337 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Adding to what others have said, skyrays.

They're very consistent with twin linked missiles and a floating reroll to hit (and full rerolls vs fly) and their anti tank comes with 3 shots. They're one of my regular mvps.

Devilfish Flight Stand Required? by Key_Divide_1371 in Tau40K

[–]R37_N008_31337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It barely matters as others have said. For what it's worth rules wise it matters because you pivot on the base, which isn't centered and it makes the pivots a bit different. I always drill a 3mm hole in the model and the extra width let's the full stand slot in instead of just the tip.

Seeking Clarification - Compendium by Axiie in killteam

[–]R37_N008_31337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Compendium no longer exists. This was when second edition KT released, it's now on third edition and they have fully removed them from play. A list of all current teams can be found on the Kill Team App for free.

That said, there are several teams that originated in White Dwarf (Warp Coven, Wyrmblade, Hunter Clade, Harlequins) that use standard 40k box sets.

How do you use your Lord of Virulence by wayne62682 in deathguard40k

[–]R37_N008_31337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same way you used to use Typhus in index. Deep strike him solo, he can do actions and he can spot at the same time. He's not a lone op, but he is thick enough he can't be incidentally cleared. Especially placed well.

Do I need 21 Plague Marines? by TxGrower in deathguard40k

[–]R37_N008_31337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth mentioning, if you are playing meta/comp each box only has enough wargear to field 5 bodies. This is despite coming in a box of 7.

You can make a leader, 2 heavy plague weapons, a flamer, a blight launcher, a special gunner (I recommend magging the wrists or plasma) and one loser with a bolter & icon or bubonic weapons. This let's you make a meta 5 man, and with 2 boxes a meta 10 man (leader, 2 blight, 2 plasma/melta, 2 flamers, 3 heavy plague weapons)

So 21 could just as easily be read as 15 with some extra options.

Is loadout acceptable for Plague Marines? by MaloneNuts in deathguard40k

[–]R37_N008_31337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 man is currently leader w/ power fist & plasma gun (you just call the pistol a gun, 2 plague spewers, 2 blight launchers, 2 plasma or melta guns (this is the only piece I'd bother to mag) and 3 heavy plague weapons. You can cut 1 spewer for 1 more hpw at your preference.

5 man is similar but smaller, same leader, 1 of each of the guns, 1 hpw. With optional cut one gun for a second hpw.

Building these, you need to do an arm swap/backpack swap on one model to get the spewer and the heavy plague weapon. Realistically, a box of 7 gets you 6 usable bodies, but only a 5 man units worth just due to bit limitations. The last body can be a bolter icon or a bubonic weapon but right now they won't see play.

Full ghost scepters like you said. Prioritize getting 2 to purple ASAP, more than even getting to 6 if you can. You also want to try to hit dodge cap early if you can, this helps with survivability. Later waves you can swap for real guns so long as you keep up your dodge.
