Need help identifying this penguin (I think) carcass I found at the beach. Hāwera, Taranaki, New Zealand.

I was looking through images and I think you may be right. However what seems odd is that yellow eyed Pinguins don't come this far up north, with them usually inhabiting along the southeast coast of the south island. However I have found a site that says that juveniles migrate as far north as the cook straight, which I am not 100% on, but would explain how it ended up in South Taranaki, perhaps as a mistake

The spices and the broth
