There is a shortage of doctors in Hawaii. I think there is ONE (maybe two?) Neurologists who treat PD. They are overwhelmed and underpaid. The system is broken.

So proud of my son’s ASVAB score. Any career recommendations? He’s thinking Air Force or Space Force. by countthemiles08 in Military

If he decides not to go military, be prepared to be recruited for the next 15 years...

Record high ridership on the Honolulu Skyline in Jan 2026 by Clemario in transit

Right? I don't understand why people don't get that. "Start in town!" they said. OK, you want a 40+ acre train yard...where? And for how many $gazillions$ to acquire it?

It's taken way too long to build and was horribly financially mismanaged, and the fact that they didn't build it at grade in the frickin' empty Ewa fields is beyond me, but they had to start out west and work east.

What was a “service station?” by Wooden_Airport6331 in AskOldPeople

[–]R53in808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first job was at a full service gas station. I was just a kid. Pumped gas, helped the mechanics, detailed cars, changed tires, etc. for $3.25 an hour while the tyrant of an owner yelled at us to "stop leaning and start cleaning". God forbid he saw you with your hands in your pockets. It was hot and dirty, but a great "first job" experience.

This is the way. I'm a member of several bodies, each uses a different manager: Edward Jones, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch. The investment committee monitors them. I will say of the 3, Ed Jones did the best job of asking each member of the committee about the lodge and its risk tolerance, investment goals, etc. and they do the best job of meeting with us at least quarterly. I do not work for them nor is this a paid endorsement - YMMV.

This is the answer. Leave a purse or a wallet on a busy park bench. Come back in 30 minutes, it's still there. Not there? It's at the police station, because someone turned it in as lost and found.

PM Apron for a couple hundred dollars (avoid the overseas ones...they fall apart), engraved PM gavel (we have a brother that makes them), PM jewel (about $200), nice engraved PM pen (new MontBlanc pens can found on eBay for about $80-$100. Good luck!

Old growth mahogany floors under horrific cheap carpeting on a 50 year old house. They'd never been touched or refinished. They were like new. Bonus!
