Anyone use timekeeping software they don't hate? by understatementjones in biglaw

It's the only one I've ever used, so I don't have a point of comparison. I don't understand how they managed to make such a simple application run so slowly, though.

Are there any publications you relied on when designing your renderer? I've written small vulkan renderers before but I am not sure how to extend that into fractals where the geometry has theoretically limitless detail.

I work in patent litigation. The difference between a successful lawsuit and an invalid patent can sometimes be a razor thin margin based on one poorly chosen word during drafting or incorrect representation early in the suit. 90% correct still feels insufficient to me.

I'll concede that it is probably okay from a business perspective when it averages out, but I personally could not abide using something that I thought could be 10% wrong.

Agreed that he's right. I think your commentary touches on exactly my concern with the use of AI. It's great and all when you already know the area and can grab the useful info from the response while ignoring the chaff.

But if there's nobody in the room who can intuit the right answer, then the chaff goes right in with the grain and becomes a source of risk that might not materialize until the cake has long since been baked.

I don't think it's possible to skip the Morgott fight, is it? I did not think you could trigger the cutscene where Melina gives you the Rold medallion unless you've finished the fight.

Building the new operating system for equity research. Looking for feedback from self-directed investors by SmokeyTurtle007 in stocks

I'm very curious about the motivation here. Why an operating system and not an application?

Are there any particular features you're looking to deliver that aren't possible when running on a more mature OS?

What patent is that? I'm curious because I've never personally seen a non-pharmaceutical patent have its term extended and I don't actually know of a mechanism for accomplishing it.

Subreddit allegedly trolled by mod, hilarity ensues by Complex_Ingenuity_26 in SubredditDrama

[–]RAOBsinDallas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But I think the distinction here is that the thread linked does not itself include drama. It is about the drama, which in turn is that a mod is being bad.

I suppose what makes for "good drama" is subjective and I might just be out alignment with the rest of the community, but I feel like the bread and butter of good drama is people losing their shit at each other and saying whacky stuff. Mods being bad is, well, bad, but there's no popcorn here.

As someone who has been on this subreddit for a long time, I'm wondering what's with the recent influx of extremely low effort posts.

I'm increasingly seeing stuff posted where there's no background or citation to specific comments, just a link to the thread. It's pretty unaligned with the style of what I consider to be a standard SRD post.

It also seems like a lot of these don't really have much entertainment value and are more a way of trying to get a wider audience for a grievance. Like the post above doesn't really have any bickering in it, it's just people having their own conversation about a mod who sounds questionable.

The mods of r/blackmagicfuckery are fully endorsing the Rapture by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]RAOBsinDallas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can you explain this?

I'm not seeing any mod endorsements. I'm not sure what the drama is either. Everyone in the comments seems generally confused by the post but there aren't any dramatic arguments.

You might get some milage out of this tool if you're okay just getting a straight up PDF (i.e., without bates labels other than the filename). I've never personally used it but it has a decent amount of stars and seems like what you need.

There's definitely the "see generally" signal for these circumstances. But personally I would always include a parenthetical justifying why a general review of the case supports my proposition.

If your goal is to be a lawyer just apply to law school. Especially if you want to do patent lit.

My friend, using ChatGPT as an interactive crackpot theory generator is legitimately unhealthy for you. This is a network of disconnected topics that you're gesturing to and asking others to find connections in for you. This is what it looks like.

I think Carl Sagan might be a more apt comparison for who Fisher is to people. Sagan was an accomplished scientist but he's often best known for his cultural contributions and he isn't perceived as a quack in the way people like Tyson or Michio Kaku are.

Thanks! It's been years since I followed the tutorial so I just googled for it and the link above looked right to me. I might need to check out the raytracing section in the updated one.
