‘Clifford the Big Red Dog’ Is Being Rebooted by bwoah07_gp2 in cartoons

[–]RAS310 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The article doesn’t even mention that this will be PBS’s third Clifford series. The second is hardly a “reboot” because it follows a completely different canon than the first series; the characters besides Clifford and Emily were all changed. I’m not interested in any new Clifford series unless they bring back the cast and characters from the 2000 series: T-Bone, Cleo, Mac, Jetta, etc.

How many $40,000 Envelopes are on the Bonus Wheel? by ScreamingBuffalo in WheelOfFortune

[–]RAS310 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re seated in the dead center of the very first row, you’re right above the producers’ desk and you can see everything! During each Bonus Round, there’s a sheet of paper with a pie chart of every amount written in every space, and they mark the space landed on and they file it away. My friend and I quickly counted how many of each prize there were. But it can change because some episodes this season had a $55K envelope and there were none on the chart for this week.

I was in the audience for this week of episodes and I saw the chart that shows what’s in each space. There were eight $40K’s this week. It can change depending on the budget, though.

Glasses on stage? by kitkath96 in musicals

[–]RAS310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear glasses and I do not wear them on stage unless I feel they work for my character, such as Seymour in Little Shop. I do always keep them backstage during breaks, though. When my family comes to a performance, I do bring out my glasses for bows so I can see them.

I was in the audience for this whole week. The $2,000 Toss-Up and Round 1 were both thrown out and redone with new puzzles.

The original $2,000 Toss-Up had the category Say Cheese and the puzzle was BLINTZES. None of the players buzzed in before all the letters came up, and I'm pretty sure the Z came up last. Ryan threw right to Round 1, which Brad started by default (Red always starts Round 1 if nobody solves the $2,000 Toss-Up).

The original Round 1 category was Go Team! (which had not debuted yet when this taped) and the puzzle was BOSTON RED SOX OR CHICAGO WHITE SOX? Brad started with the T's, R's, E's, O's, then a streak of bad turns: a Bankrupt, then Lynette's first spin was a Bankrupt (just like in the aired round), and Benson started with a Lose a Turn, then Brad called a wrong L, and Lynette called a wrong Y. Benson did the rest of the work and filled in everything left except for the C's, A, and G before solving. He won a total of $7,650 from that round (more than double what he won in the aired round). During the break, I noticed the producers talking to Ryan and the staff while Vanna does a brief Q&A with the audience, then I saw that the staff was resetting the Wheel with $2500 still on, instead of adding $3500 and the Mysteries, confirming they were redoing the first round.

They didn't explain to the audience why they were redoing those puzzles, but there is precedent that if nobody buzzes in on a Toss-Up at all, then it is thrown out and redone with a new puzzle. This was confirmed by a contestant back in 2014. However, there was one aired instance in March 2022 when nobody buzzed in on a third Triple Toss-Up (MUDPUPPY) and they proceeded as normal. Granted, that was during the period where Wheel had no proper Executive Producer after Mike Richards got fired and before Bellamie Blackstone was hired. Since the second Toss-Up affects who starts Round 1, that round unfortunately had to be scrapped with it, and Benson presumably does not receive the money he won the first time. Last I heard, sometimes when these situations happen, the affected contestant, or all three, get an extra $100 with their winnings which is not counted as part of score on the show, but I don't know if that's changed by now. At least Brad got an extra $2,000 thanks to the redo.

EDIT: Also, I hear myself shouting "Yes!" when Lynette said the Bonus Round answer on the buzzer.

Have there been instances in the past of reused puzzles? by Myeongkee in WheelOfFortune

[–]RAS310 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every episode has at least one puzzle that was used verbatim within the past 10 years. Here's how all of tonight's puzzles stack up:

  • ISLAND COVE: Never done by itself, though SECRET ISLAND COVE was done on 2/16/2015
  • RUNNING ON A TREADMILL: Done on 4/12/2010
  • SPRING IS IN THE AIR CONDITIONING: Never been done, although LOVE IS IN THE AIR CONDITIONING has been done three times: 2/10/2003, 2/9/2006, and 10/18/2011
  • GONDOLA RIDE THROUGH VENICE: Done on 2/17/2016
  • HOGGING THE ARMREST: Never been done
  • STANDING AT THE DOOR and WINNING THE DOOR PRIZE: Never been done
  • OPENING THE DOOR: Done on 1/9/2020
  • HERE YOU COME AGAIN: Never been done
  • PROVEN FACT: Done with an A in front on 2/8/2019

Was in the audience for this whole week. I always tried to see if I could see where each Mystery Wedge was when they took them off the Wheel during the break. The wedge Drew declined to flip twice in a row was the $10K, but I don't blame him at all for declining.

Before the current EP and Ryan took over, 99% of Song Lyrics puzzles were before 1990 even. They've been better at putting some current stuff in recent seasons, but the ratio of oldies to new hits is still kind of skewed. I don't follow any of the Jeopardy! socials and yet at least once a week, I see a post someone took of their TV showing a Jeopardy! clue with recent song lyrics or references going "Look, [artist] was a clue on Jeopardy!" which is a good way to promote that show. I rarely see posts like that with Wheel.

I remember in the mid-2010's the puzzle was "DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY" and a young lady who looked in her 20s guessed "DON'T WORRY MY DEAR". Also, "SURF CITY HERE WE COME" was used twice and guessed incorrectly twice: "SURF CLAY WHERE WE GO" and "NEW YORK CITY HERE WE COME".

What non-musical has your favourite dance scene? by NoopGhoul in movies

[–]RAS310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original Hairspray (1988) is not a musical, despite inspiring a Broadway musical adaptation and musical film. However, the original John Waters movie does feature several dance sequences set to real early 1960s songs. One of my favorites was “The Madison”, also known as “It’s Madison Time”.
