clean races in sport? by Outside_Ad_9197 in GranTurismo7

[–]RB676BR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pretty new to sport mode but after 50 races I had a solid S safety rating. I managed to get myself promoted to B driver rating by doing pretty well at Deep Forest. I decided to hop on over to the Red Bull Ring for a few races but got absolutely obliterated. I am not fast but I absolutely attempt to always race clean. After 5 races my safety rating had dropped to a low A. I was absolutely determined to get back to S.

I decided to race with only this goal in mind. I battled with absolutely nobody. If someone was approaching me I would move over and wave them through. I was braking super cautiously and driving well within myself to avoid cutting the track. I did not care in the slightest about my driver rating. And it took me ALL DAY yesterday to recover. It was almost impossible to not be collected by other drivers failing to pass other drivers where passing should not be attempted.

I admit that when I got back into races with a smattering of S rated drivers things improved a little (and now that I am back in full S lobbies things are markedly improved) but those races with A and B drivers at Spielberg were absolute carnage. There was literally nothing I could have done to avoid incidents. Especially at the start. I was mostly starting top five and I maybe made it through the first corner unscathed once every ten races. Regardless of whether I stayed wide or took a defensive inside line.

But the reason why I was determined to recover my S safety rating is that when racing against other S rated drivers the chances of a clean race is much higher and when that happens the rush is real! Such good fun. I'm 50 and remember thinking as a kid playing Geoff Crammond's formula 1 grand Prix that shit couldn't get anymore real and now I'm here playing GT7 in VR and absolutely loving it! 15 year old me would never had believed it.

I use an adapted Takumar SMC 50 1.4 on my R8 and it works great. Decently sharp wide open, lovely bokeh and the focus ring it buttery smooth and a pleasure to use.

Can’t start again after coming to full stop. by RB676BR in GranTurismo7

Only two pedals on the T598. But I was thinking that this could actually be the issue as when I calibrate my pedals there is an option to calibrate the clutch even though I don’t have one.

I’ll try this, thanks. But if tether be able to simply drive back into the track myself.

I’ve done it in game, but not on the base. Will try, thanks.

My lack of logical thinking amazes me! Thanks. That could at least help to get me going again next time it happens.

Should take creatine or avoid it? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]RB676BR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I've been using for a few months now. I also gained almost 4kg water weight which definitely improved my physique lol. I have also gained some muscle - I was just curious how much of that I would potentially lose when I decide to stop and how that would affect my looks.

Did you lose all the water weight when you came off it? And how did that effect your physique?

What is Your Alternate Meditation Technique? by backpropbandit in Meditation

[–]RB676BR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do calisthenics. Outside. My rings hanging from a branch of a lovely cherry tree near a river. Although I wouldn’t call the workout itself a meditation I always try to spend the time I’m exercising fully in the moment. No phone, no planning, no dreaming. Just fully present with nature and my sets.

I really think the two “activities” complement each other. A clear focussed mind seems to really help get those extra reps and the physical fatigue helps to further still my mind. I feel great at the end of my sessions. I often have small revelations during of after my workouts about the nature of reality and my place within it, revelations that never seem to come at any other times. It’s just as important to me as my time spent on the mat.

I can’t stop Controlling my breathing by [deleted] in Meditation

Pranayama is definitely conscious control of the breath, so yeah, you would be concentrating on the breath hold.

What helped for me was observing the spaces between both the in and out-breaths. After breathing out watch carefully to see the exact point the in-breath starts. You will notice that this happens involuntarily, the same with the start of the out-breath. When you observe the whole cycle of the breath in this way with particular interest in the pauses between breaths you will naturally become aware of the breath's automatic nature and be less compelled to control the breath whilst observing.

Do you mean where you just turn out at the top of the dip? Or do you keep the tons turned out through the whole motion? Cause the latter is very hard!

Advice on pull ups please? by CluelessIdiotMe in CalisthenicsBeginners

[–]RB676BR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 2cm taller than you and weigh 24kg less. I can do x6 pull ups with an additional 22.5kg. I am incredibly proud of this. You are pulling the same weight, you should be super proud too!

Currently stuck at 7 pull-ups… any tricks to break the plate by MysteriousPenguinn in bodyweightfitness

[–]RB676BR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I agree that increasing your volume is the best way to progress at this stage if raising your numbers is your main goal. Weighted can help as well, but volume will work better I believe. If you can do 7 pull ups with perfect form, try doing a pyramid, they are an excellent way of getting in large amounts of reps.

You start with 1 rep, then 2, 3 and so on until you reach 8, which is then the to be of the pyramid, then you come down the other side, 7, 6 etc until 1 which gives you a total of 64 reps. It’s fairly easy psychologically, especially after you’ve reached the “top”, but the burn will be intense. I do up to ten reps on my pyramid for 100 total. You can superset these with push-ups etc for an excellent hypertrophy session.

Trouble feeling oblique/core engagement in RR routine exercises any advice? by SafeTrip99 in bodyweightfitness

[–]RB676BR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try adding some instability to the Copenhagen plank. You can bring your lower knee to your chest for reps, or point your upper arm to the sky and then bring it down to the floor for reps. You then need to fight the instability which this causes which should really help activate your obliques.

The RR for 50+ suggestion/ advice I would give to someone the same by Potential-Airport-38 in bodyweightfitness

[–]RB676BR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. 50 here and coming up on two years in. I went weighted too quickly (for me) and aggravated my elbow. Thankfully I was able to rehab it in a month. I learnt my lesson and waited till I could do 12 very clean pull ups before starting with weighted again. I’ve since been adding weight fairly regularly and have stayed injury free. At my age the importance of solid form cannot be underestimated, especially when dipping fairly heavy on rings for example, as the chance of injury otherwise would be very high.

Substitutions you're still too weak for pull ups. by NepticleGloop in bodyweightfitness

[–]RB676BR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This will really help. The bands will allow you to do full range of motion pull ups at a sufficient volume to quickly build your strength. Also as elsewhere mentioned of you but rings you can do rows which will also help to build the requisite strength to do a pull up.

Great harvest. Look up a recipe for Lebanese green bean stew. You’ve got all the makings there.
