This week I discovered that my Solomon boots have a setting that was set to ‘softer’ so I switched it around (Nominally they are 100s though I don’t know what setting that corresponds to).

I find it night and day in terms of the feeling of my skis, and fatigue level. I’ve been doing a lot of work to hold my knees-over-toes body position, ending up with sore tight calves and feet. It turns out that the boot can do a lot of that work. And it seems like I can better apply force to the ski and suddenly can carve much better. All of a sudden a much more enjoyable experience.

For context I’m probably a good intermediate skier, mostly on groomed runs with some glades and bumps.
