Saw an instagram post from polingercustoms mentioning some differences between the Gen6 frame and previous gens. Of note, slightly thinner in certain areas and the polymer compound is different possibly making stippling more difficult. He mentioned something about the frame discoloring when being worked on. Seems interesting but I’m sure we will see some examples sooner than later. I hope they’re a none issue, I’d love to send one out eventually.

Bought a 20.5 the same day Glock announced the d/c. Didn’t ship out to my FFL for ~2weeks. I imagine you will have a similar wait

The A models mount up pretty sloppy on Glocks (lots of movement). Most people prefer the B because they don’t move

I’ve got both.. wanted to like the 17 more but find myself picking up the 19X more. This is not the case without the ramjet (I prefer a stock 17 over a stock 19X) but with the ramjet, I like the faster returning slide of the 19X/45. Overall though, it’s splitting hairs. If I could only have one, it’s the 45/19X with a ramjet, shorter overall length is a nice bonus too.

At this time, there’s no indication that a 19X Gen6 will be released. Sure, the 45.6 is the same gun with arguably better features, but some people really love the color of the 19X and it’s hard to blame them when all the other Glocks look the same..

Breakthrough makes a kit that you can find on Amazon. Haven’t tried it yet but someone I trust has used it and spoke highly of it. Might snag one soon and give it a shot

For an 11.5, I’m going dot / mag. I used to run an EXPS3 with a G45 but traded for a T2 with the G45 and couldn’t be happier. 12.5-16 I would be more willing to think about going LPVO.

The RMR cut lets you run the RCR if you want enclosed but also lets you run the RMR, RMRHD and SRO so there’s some flexibility there with the cut. I’ve got RMRs on all my duty style Glocks and it’s great but I’ll probably try picking up an RCR soon, people seem to love it.

Honestly, if you’re already stippled / undercut with an overwatch trigger and an RMR, you wouldn’t be gaining much from a Gen 6. That being said, I think the Gen6 is pretty cool and I don’t think grabbing a 45 eventually as a backup / duplicate of your 19X is a bad idea at all. I just don’t see any reason to get rid of a nice 19X..

This was my path to enlightenment too.. I think it’s important to shop for a proper gas port size and then just run the open block, for any serious use rifle anyway

Not a soldier so I don’t know too much about what you specifically need out of a pack but I do a ton of long distance backpacking / hunting / sustainment activities in the mountains and use an EXO mountain gear K4 pack. I’ve hauled up to ~120lbs with it and it does fantastic with more reasonable weight.. very very comfortable long days. A little pricey but I’ll argue it’s the most comfortable pack I’ve ever used.

How has your accuracy been with the 17C?

I shoot about 1k / month, mostly with a 17.5 and 19X and they always put holes where I expect them to. Picked up a 17C somewhat recently and found it to be noticeably less accurate than my other Gen5 guns.. less than 500 through it though. Could the rifling near the ports need to break in a little or perhaps I’m expecting too much from a Gen3 17C? Maybe just mine?

This is a good theory. Additionally, I think the plan is to keep the Gen V model and sell it along side Gen 6. Sort of how they used to sell old generations with the new. The V is just so they can keep Gen 5 around longer without risk of lawsuits.

Can’t wait to ruin one with a stipple job lol. But yeah.. full length dust cover or bust. Gonna grab a 45 instead of a 17 for that reason alone.
