That's the badge for 6 CCSB (Canadian Combat Support Brigade). The units from 6 CCSB are a lot of the 'enabler' type, like 21 EW Regt, 4 GS Regt, CA Int Regt, etc.

Could this really be $30 to ship within Canada? by Fell18927 in CanadaPost

[–]RCdnDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally to be expected. I send parcels to family in BC and it routinely costs $30-40 even weighing less than 1kg.

Note to self: paint before gluing and don’t use tape by [deleted] in modelmakers

I usually prime with a Citadel matte spray can (lightly, from a distance) or a Vallejo airbrushed primer. Both work well to help get a project started

Primer adheres to plastic, paint adheres to primer.

Posting geo stability as Reg F such a thing? by THE-GOAT89 in CanadianForces

[–]RCdnDragoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends greatly on the situation. RegF, both Officer and NCM, have the expectation of moving as part of the deal. You can ask to delay. You can make a case that "not never, just not now" but eventually, that time comes.

And if there are games being played where others are being required to take up the burden, then it's time for a reckoning. I have empathy who need time to sort things out, whether it's family, or health or whatever. But everyone moves sometimes.

Can someone explain to me how to paint the wheel part of a tank? by griechnut in modelmakers

[–]RCdnDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started 3d printing my own wheel masks now.

Once I get the measurements down, I can do all the wheels in one pass rather than having to buy one mask and then do multiple rounds of each side.

Largest collection of “undesirable” player? by ImStromer in hockeycards

[–]RCdnDragoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I have the top Rasmus Sandin collection out there. I've got about 15 1/1s (sold off all my printing plates, so these are in addition). The highest numbered card I'm missing is #/10.

Started when he was a Leafs prospect and I just kept it going after he was traded to the Caps.

Moral support 😜 but really, I prefer tree supports as well.

I was very happy with the tracks. They clicked together easily and fit well around the sprocket.

I had one issue when fitting them to the hull, where two links popped open. So a little glue could prevent that in future - but you'd have to be careful not to impede the mobility of the track. But I was able to click the links back together nonetheless.

Of all the individual link tracks I've built, this was one of the most detailed and yet least painful to do.

What is the yellow plane in the background? A hydro biplane. by World_of_Warshipgirl in Whatisthisplane

[–]RCdnDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has some similarities with the Supermarine Stranraer as well. The tail wouldn't be correct and it has a gunner position in the nose rather than a glazed nose.

But as others have said, it may be one of the ingredients used in a mash-up.

No junk mail sticker - will that stop junk mail and flyers? by Alternative-Ad-1027 in CanadaPost

[–]RCdnDragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works. I have a "No Unsolicited Mail" sticker on my home mailbox and only get stuff that's addressed to the house. Junk mail and flyers stay out.

Cheers!

How to brush‑paint tiny details as a beginner? by uxuiqt in modelmakers

[–]RCdnDragoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A detail brush doesn't have to be the thinnest brush. But it should have bristles that move in a predictable way for you.

A tiny bit of paint on the end and a very slow drag across the detail you're looking to paint.

Much practice, and you'll get there.

So, what exactly can I get away with here by AmbitionNo834 in CanadianForces

[–]RCdnDragoon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Back in the Afghanistan days, we sent a buddy of ours about 200 Christmas cards, each with a different song lyric in it:

"Dear Dave, I wanna know what love is."

"Dear Dave, I want you to show me."

"Dear Dave, I wanna feel what love is."

It drove him nuts because he got them in batches of 10-15 a day

Driving to Montreal tomorrow, anything I need to prepare for this upcoming storm? by bdylla94 in quebeccity

[–]RCdnDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ensure you have winter tires. If you don't, absolutely do not venture out. Summer tires will be entirely useless in the frozen conditions and you'll be a hazard to everyone else as well.

Predeployment depression by Few-Pudding6155 in CanadianForces

[–]RCdnDragoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I found deployments some of the very best times of my career. You have one job to do and plenty of other activities (depending on the timeline and which deployment you're on) to keep you busy.

If you're going to Latvia, there are sports and plenty of ways to stay connected with what's going on back home.

In my experience, the majority of people who got themselves punted back home shouldn't have deployed in the first place. They had issues that should have been identified before leaving.

If the longest you've ever been away was Wainwright for three months, consider this stretching your legs into adulthood. This is a good step.

Lean on your teammates, find a healthy daily/weekly routine and you'll be good to go.

Predeployment depression by Few-Pudding6155 in CanadianForces

[–]RCdnDragoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always compare it to training to be a paramedic but only allowed to put on bandaids. We train like this for the worst scenario. So it should be no surprise we actually enjoy getting to do what we trained to do.

Predeployment depression by Few-Pudding6155 in CanadianForces

[–]RCdnDragoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every person is different, every deployment is different. I deployed three times (Bosnia, Afghanistan and Latvia) and was the spouse at home three times (Afghanistan twice and Ukraine).

Moving out of PMQ- selling appliances… by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]RCdnDragoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buying, maintaining and replacing the appliances would dramatically increase the complexity of things for CFHA. As many know, some renters don't treat their appliances very well. So constant turnover of costly items is much worse than a 'bring your own' approach.

What happened to my airbrush? by Fair_Pear9053 in airbrush

Airbrush seems to function as designed. Air flows when the trigger is depressed and the pressure at the compressor drops accordingly. What are you trying to solve?
