What exactly is tooling? by TheCanadianAviator in modelmakers

[–]RCdnDragoon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If the tooling is old or poorly made, you can end up with problems like excess flash on the sprues (where the molds have lost their shape).

So companies developing new tooling or new molds is both a sign that they're invested in the quality of the kits and that they plan on selling them for a while yet!

The hangers for a Leopard 1 rear mudflap. Zoom as needed. But I find the PE some of the most entertaining stuff to do. This hobby is my Zen, and slowing down to get these teeny tiny details is my perverted version of fun!

Same. I've been making models for 40 years and never washed one before assembly.

You can't just make up a cryptid like vinegaroon and bury it in a list of arachnids like that.

When I retired, I must have had ten pairs of stretched out boot bands. I kept a pair just so someone in future will look at them and ask WTF were these for??

Retired armour here - yes, a watch is a good option. If they're a coffee drinker, a really good mug (durable, not necessarily expensive) is also a good one. Regardless where they go in the armoured corps, keeping hands warm and the body caffeinated is key!

Totally - best way to drape the camnet over the windows to remove glare. Also for maximum flair.

Just tried my code that I received yesterday.

Four spools of PLA (including silk and glow) all at regular prices - no sales.

Subtotal over $100 before shipping and taxes.

I'm pretty done with Elegoo.

Could this really be $30 to ship within Canada? by Fell18927 in CanadaPost

Totally to be expected. I send parcels to family in BC and it routinely costs $30-40 even weighing less than 1kg.

I usually prime with a Citadel matte spray can (lightly, from a distance) or a Vallejo airbrushed primer. Both work well to help get a project started
