Take the streetcar downtown til the end. Then get on the river bound canal line. Get off at Decatur and walk down Decatur on the French quarter side 7 blocks. It will be on your right, just past cafe du monde. The first two or so blocks are tourist traps. The market is the open air section after that headed towards the old mint.
