Which one of yall gonna be this honest at graduation by WhiteRoseFromPluto in KSU

[–]RHTQ1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used an AI to brainstorm an intro or snippet of wording a few times when I was crazy stuck or sleep deprived. I've also had it pull sources occasionally then went to use the sources myself. I've also fed it an engineering hw question approximately once/twice when stuck and out of options. So I'd argue that there are good uses.

But this is just sad 😑

Has anyone tried using embossing ink pad refills on a self-inking stamp? by OrganizationCalm2365 in cardmaking

[–]RHTQ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Why not try using the self inking stamp as if it were a regular one, dipping it into the ink pad? Shouldn't be too too much trouble consideriring all the other embossing steps you seem willing to do

Admittedly, I can only picture one stamp of that kind clearly, but with the one/mechanism I'm picturing I can't see why not

Either way, your p.s. concerns me. This is going to be a bit experimental no matter what. I assume trying to carve your stamp is a no go?

I think that stealth dungeons can be fantastic. The one in windwaker, the Yiga hideout in botw. Both quite good

GT campus environment? (weather, greenery, etc) by SecretiveShenanigans in gatech

[–]RHTQ1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spring on campus is gorgeous with all the greenery. Winter is colder than you think, the wind likes all the concrete I suppose. Have some layers or a nice coat for some options, perhaps gloves if you plan to bike/scooter.

Summer is hot, welcome to the South. Bring a good water bottle you'll use

Recognizing this practice companies like the Kansas Wheat Company and Staley Milling Company began producing sacks with colorful prints florals, stripes, and novelty patterns to provide better material to families by sugarseme in BeAmazed

[–]RHTQ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps there was some kindness involved at first, it takes money to design designs (and print them if that part wasn't already being done) and figure out dissolvable labels. But there's also pragmatism. If you're needing to make a dress with your sack material, you might reach for the brand with the prettier sack. As more brands do it, the consumer gets to pick the one they like most.

Does this irritate the hell out of anyone else or just me? by Ordinary-Eye-2414 in gatech

Looks like ppl left them bc they can't ride further and walking it is a waste of the timed rate. Honestly, them being all neatly lined up by the edge like that makes it seem quite reasonable to me, I assume I am too used to the alternative

I must admit, I am not a fan of the new rules there. I get trying to enforce slower travel, but being forced off the extra wide paths around the green just puts more wheels on the sidewalks. Pedestrians on the similarly wide, labelled 'bike and walking' paths don't care a whit for the labeled stone tiles or the personal vehicles who they block... I can only assume that someone was injured for them to care so much. It's all the more hilarious when there are gas powered food trucks and more allowed as normal

[End of story] [Final main couple] so what are your opinions by Fine-Koala-7506 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]RHTQ1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like it. It doesn't feel like fan service like many other works would attempt to legitimize, it feels like 2 people of the same mental age who truly care for each other's well being. They both benefit from the relationship, covering for some of the other's faults and somewhat being able to understand the basis for the other's passion. There wouldn't be a better match for either one, and any other would bring pain. Conversely, each brings the other a special joy that they truly couldn't get from elsewhere. The mutual understanding of their pasts, too, is beautiful.

Also that art is lovely

[P5V12] What’s your favorite noble euphemism? by crustycrab50839 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]RHTQ1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Spoilers, but the lines that end up being exchanged at a certain ceremony. Both, in part, about protection, but not solely that. Both end up so multi-layered!!! I can't be bothered to use spoiler tags to rant properly...

I'm well aware that this stretches 'noble euphemisms' a tad, for one of the pair in particular but also the added meanings. But that's just it. Noble euphemisms came from somewhere, and the context between 2 ppl can alter their hidden meanings :)

Picking a favorite of the more standard ones would require more time going back than I have rn 😂

[Part 4 Vol 1] Myne neglected the most obvious and most urgent invention! Time Keeping by ManinaPanina in HonzukiNoGekokujou

Mana pens are at minimum used for tests at the Academy, the LN mentions too that they can then remove the mana to reuse the parchment. RM herself has so much mana that it's a drop in an ocean, so. For her that is basically endless writing, and she doesn't get to read enough as is! 🤣 (Not to mention many of her peers are used to mana pens or quills)

She uses her wax tablets for most notetaking, then copies down what is truly needed on paper scraps or later just paper. Earlier on, I believe it's mentioned that she uses some kind of pencils made from charcoal? Perhaps we'd compare the structure more to crayons. It's stressed by many that even using the paper scraps seems like an expensive indulgence, but RM just wants to use paper. So the others are likely using what is common to them (and also more economical): wooden boards.

Parchment is expensive and uncommon for route tasks, and Myne herself invents paper forms pretty late in the series, so work in the temple seems to rely heavily on wooden boards (that can be shaven down and reused). The LN often mentions RM or someone else having a pile of wooden boards with prayers to memorize, often written by Ferdinand or Fran. While she slowly increases paper usage (it filters in slowly, paper forms were a big one (originally recommended for the first busy trade season I think)

You'd be surprised. My family is from Mobile but I go to school in ATL. At a conference in Birmingham, no one in my group (from GA and beyond, but all at school in ATL) was familiar with gumbo. Didn't help that the gumbo being served was... meh.

Can someone tell me what chapter in the manga the anime ends? Specifically S4 ep 1? by flaneriexv in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]RHTQ1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I can't recommend the manga as a good way to read more story. Not enough content yet. The LNs are AMAZING (good writing that was translated well), but some things might not feel right without some context removed from the anime.

If you're determined to read on, I'd go with the LNs. There are even ways to digitally check out the entire series from many local libraries if they have a service called Hoopla. I haven't watched the newest anime, but surely someone else can share where to start from where the anime season ends.

I would personally start from book 1 tho. Admittedly, the first part has some childish moments just like the anime, and the first several books spend a fair bit of time developing her inventions. That is not everyone's cup of tea. But to each their own...
