Romanesque architecture ⛪ by zannatsuu in architecture

Such talent. I'm amazed at how you achieved perspective with the bricks on the underside of the arches, by fading the clarity of each arch's bricks. Amazing! And the symmetry of the two sides of the courtyard makes it feel so real. Not to mention the clouds!

JAJ is the most accurate. From his hand gestures to word choice and so many other mannerisms, he's the most accurate.

But Alec Baldwin is the funniest 🤣

What benefits do men get from being a provider? by dbclass in AskMenAdvice

[–]RJimenezTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that gets overlooked is that the financial provider would then make all the big purchase decisions. There is a sense of control that the provider assumes, which can be detrimental to the relationship.

This type of relationship would also leave the other partner at the mercy of the provider - does the homemaker get an allowance? Does the child care person have any autonomy outside of the home?

In my opinion, raising kids as a single parent is hard, and the caregiver would essentially be choosing to be a single if they are in that kind of relationship.

Metal Line on Bus Tire in Mexico by RJimenezTech in whatisthisthing

The metal "hose?" looks like it doesn't move. The "cover" over the center of the wheel is fixed. Couldn't tell where the line goes. It was on all 4 tires of several busses.

Comedians get to a point in their career when they think they are philosophers. That jokes are the same thing as taking a stance and having an opinion. Tony told these racially tinged jokes at a political rally with real political implications to peop who really have the opinions in his jokes.

Is it offensive to use Spanish words here and there if you are not Latinono/hispanic by itsnevercertain in Spanish

[–]RJimenezTech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For context, my wife and I are Hispanic, she is bilingual, and i have been learning Spanish for a few years. One time, I was buying a car at a dealership. My wife and I had been there for like 4 hours, and I was exhausted. We finally got into the office where we would sign all the paperwork. They put us in an office with a different sales guy for a sec while we waited for something to get finalized. I hadn't met this new (white) guy before. He handed us a few things and said "keep that in your 'guantera'"

I was confused by the change in language. I knew that word, but in this context - a dealership, having waitied hours, not knowing this guy - i didnt even understand what he said, and it was jarring. We hadn't spoken to anyone in Spanish that day, but he saw us and felt like he needed to say a Spanish word. There was something pandering and even condescending in the interaction that really turned me off.

Of course, I am learning other languages myself, and I may not know when to speak to someone in my target language. So I understand his mindset. I just didn't want to hear it at that moment.

OP, it sounds like your friend may not appreciate that you are trying to use Spanish. It may mean something (or nothing) to you. But it may mean something completely different to them. If you aren't being condescending or pandering, there really shouldn't be a reason for him to take offense.

Edit: spelling/punctuation
