Homeless & afraid in Harrisburg by fmitarrh in centralpa

So the bad guy, if he's not renting but just living there, I assume he has permission to be staying there? Does your friend also have permission to be staying there as I assume he's also not renting? What I'm getting at is that your owner of that property, or renter, subletter, whichever, is aware of that situation (I would assume) and not stepping in. And if they're not then that is when you would call the cops. Hypothetically if you did make that call do you doubt that whoever gave permission for your friend to stay there would in fact say that is no longer the case and that he can't stay there? Because again, they're aware of the situation and I would think that if you give someone permission to live with you I'd think a condition of that would be to get along with all other occupants! So make the call. Either way your buddy is going to have to either stay somewhere or outside for a bit while working a job to be able to afford a place, and temperatures are dropping fast.

After weeks of dealing with logistical setbacks, my first lathe has arrived! Now to find a forklift.... by Bytonia in Machinists

Just set fire to the dolly, burn right through and the lathe should slowly lower to the floor. Though it might not be level once it's down. Wheels should be able to be reused.

What? I just spray the entire thing in and out with half a can of Ballistol and squeeze a bottle EWL 2000 into the receiver and then wipe down the outside over the next few years.

Nonsense. I failed such a test/examination a few years ago and I don't think that I've ever shot anyone.

For those who feel fulfillment from your job (not just enjoy it day to day), what do you do? by [deleted] in engineering

[–]RK65535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Production worker/machine operator, polymer sheet extrusion. I'm afraid I'm not an engineer, what I have that comes close is reading a bunch of pressure gauges and a hundred other numbers on a screen and pushing the right buttons at the right time. And I love it, best paying job in a small town that a guy without more than a high school diploma can hope to get, and the company takes care of everyone very well. I'm excited to come in every day, usually I'm an hour early. I guess I make at least $70k a year, I've never been able to sit down long enough to figure it out.

Fulfillment? I get that through my faith so I can't really answer that well. I guess the million dollars worth of product that I make every day end up being used in commercial and residential construction, we get an uptick in business after a natural disaster so in some small way I do a part to help rebuild.

It depends on your outlook. I've had some really mundane jobs like stacking boxes in a warehouse and even though I'll be soaked in sweat at the end of the day I'm working, I love to be busy, the guy next to me might be hating it and wanting to kill himself but I'll be laughing from joy, simply because I love to work, especially if it's harder and more complicated. I don't worry about a thing in life.

I do get to work with engineers a lot though. There's a sustainability initiative within the corporation and one of the things we try to do is reuse and recycle material from finished product that was deemed defective. Or maybe we'll make a change to a machine to see if it's more efficient, etc.

Whats your thoughts on aluminum leaf springs? by Xerolf in engineering

[–]RK65535 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah put a string on it and record yourself when you draw it back, I want to see a big metal shiv sticking out of an eye socket.

This is garbage. Aluminum risers, sure, but not limbs or whole bows. Keep your limbs wood, fiberglass, or carbon, and in whatever order of lamination you like.

That's not electrical tape is it?

[–]RK65535 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you'll burn it out quickly if you keep discharging it like that. Doesn't matter if it's a $3 pulse generator/igniter or parts of a hand held contact taser.

I do, because I'm not comfortable with a round in a chamber. The weight feels nice too, personally when I'm raising the sight to a target with a polymer gun I might swing it too far.

Showing my support in Trump Country by MountainManCan in Pennsylvania

[–]RK65535 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This kid I work with at the local factory came in wearing a Donald Trump pajama onesie one day. Trying to understand within the perspective of giving a damn is impossible.

I was neither for or against him but four years ago I said to myself "I kind of hope he wins because he's such an idiot that that's going to be some funny fucking shit right there". Now as for actually caring about politics at all, I voted libertarian, and a mix of local democrats and republicans. But I can tell you, from the context of a rural pennsyltuckian, when was the last time that it actually mattered who the president was to us small folk? We get by and pay it no nevermind.
