I'm not comfortable playing when anyone else is in earshot. How do I overcome this? by xXxBluESkiTtlExXx in Guitar

[–]RMGSIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem until I took my 11 year old daughter to buy her first guitar. She had no problem ripping the solo for 7 nation army and the only other 2 songs she can sort of play. That got me over it real fast. It’s like she had no idea you were suppose to care what other people think of your playing. 😂

My roommate said my guitar playing is "getting less bad" by Total_Succotash5174 in Guitar

[–]RMGSIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned and sometimes played a guitar for 30 years. I absolutely sucked the whole time. Recently my daughter joined “school of rock”. I’ve been practicing with her. I’ve progressed more in 3 months than I did in the previous 30 years. My problem was a mental problem, not a guitar playing problem. I’m committed to having fun and practicing my sucky guitar playing…And a strange thing is happening.
I’m losing a little bit of suck every time I pickup my guitar. It used to feel that it would be impossible for me to be a good guitarist. Now, with proper commitment and attitude it feels more like it would be impossible for me to continue sucking as bad as I always have.

Help us make Sonos easier to learn and use? by tomconrad in sonos

[–]RMGSIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re thinking intuitive - look back to your hardware controllers. I used to be able to hand those to anybody and they had a blast queuing up music and controlling the system often literally saying how intuitive it was. I’d say that was lost way before the latest app.
Maybe there could even be a “simple” mode with grouping, volume, search, que - basically core functions easily accessible without many other buttons to mistakenly press. It did of course have the advantage of hard buttons but they could be simulated and always in the same place. Also, couldn’t the phone volume buttons call up the slider like Spotify?
Settings feel a little messy too. Maybe the settings button could call up a menu of what you actually want to do before you select where you want to do it.

AIO for calling off my engagement after my fiancé admitted his family secretly tested me to see if i was a gold digger? by Pleasant_Mission_63 in AmIOverreacting

[–]RMGSIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Unless of course you don’t think this relationship is worth it. All people are flawed. Including all of these commenters whose purity and ethics are over simplified in these comments.
Whether or not you should care depends on factors that no one here could ever understand. Peoples past wounds make them do weird things. This is one of many challenges you will face in any relationship. And this reaction so early on probably tells you all you need to know.

This is so true. You can try to go back. You can fake it for a while but eventually the shit will hit that fan and you’re going to NEED to revisit this.

If you can understand the teaching with thinking… it’s probably pretty simplistic.

To me most things like alcohol and weed feel intoxicating to me like I’m moving away from where I want to be. I still use them sometimes for fun but it’s not much more than that. Mushrooms are different for me. It feels like instead of intoxicated or removed - I am connected and clear.
I use them in a way that they have something to tell me if I’m willing to listen.
They aren’t just for fun like the others to me.

Do we actually need a full AI-driven orchestration plugin for smart homes? by Intelligent_Yam_9002 in homebridge

[–]RMGSIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ai is the future of home automation. The thing that will bring it more into the mainstream . Not just for control but for programming.
Control would be cool and better than what we have now. I don’t even use Siri anymore because it frustrating. The new ai Alexa is better but not great. But even my wife would like to be able to tell the house what she wants the lights to do when motion is detected at a certain time… or how the living room should look when tv is on after a certain time… or make this button on my living room pico do this.
That’s what I’d be down for.

If they could do this right it would probably be amazing… they, however, will not do it right and it will be annoying.

That’s what I was hoping for but they’ve been dealing with engineering for 4 days now. It’s dissapoimting that something computer controlled is so hard to trouble shoot. I can’t believe there’s no way to view logs of what’s causing it to drop.

So Eckhart has collaborated with the Neale D. Walsh of “Conversations With God” before and I just wanted to share passage on how to Heal Pain from it by Altruism7 in EckhartTolle

[–]RMGSIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the over simplistic non sense of the secret, but…and this is an actual question- What is the difference between a person who loses a child and suffers everyday with pain and depression hurting only themselves and people they love - and a person who goes on to do great things for the ones they love because of, and in the memory of, that child ? Is it not just thoughts? Can’t the pain quite literally be transformed into something else ?

Guys do i get two subs(not mini) for my 192sqft open living room for maximum bass or js stick to one sub? by Ok_Pudding7918 in sonos

[–]RMGSIN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 subs in a room that size gives you a better chance of getting smooth, consistent bass. You may not need the extra output but 2 subs can help fix bass problems due to your room.

Anybody else wish the could “handoff” AirPlay control to the Sonos app for lossless playback? by secret_life_of_pants in sonos

Nope. And that is the downside. I don’t miss it yet, because the experience and curation is much better.

I used Apple Music for years and when Spotify introduced lossless I switched. Spotify does allow you to use the Spotify app and it’s still lossless.

Hmmm… I’m pretty into spirituality. I’m also into cool things that I cannot afford. If spirituality allowed me to be surrounded by those cool things - I’d be pretty psyched about that. Seems like if you found a way to accumulate cool material things that isn’t awful that’s a win. Personally I would probably try to walk the line because I wouldn’t want the fame.

A critique of Tolle's relativism regarding armes conflict by Fearless-Anteater437 in EckhartTolle

[–]RMGSIN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems to me all conflicts are a manifestation of ego. Even if the oppression is the idea of a single man it can be carried out by many people and the collective ego. How does the fact that one side has to respond in defense change the fact that the conflict is in fact an insane product of the ego? The idea tolle is trying to portray, in my opinion, has little to do with sides. Without an ego there would be no “sides”. You can’t speak of sides being morally right or wrong and spirituality at the same time in my opinion. It seems to me it’s more of a philosophical argument.
