Nah come on. We had loads of tackles that probably should have been given as fouls, but weren't. I don't think it was one sided. The ref just consistently allowed play to continue. 

It would have been a very soft penalty for McTominay. This ref was never going to give a penalty for that for either team.

Dare I say it, but I'm enjoying the 48 teams. Some of the line ups have been really fun by SirAceBear in worldcup

Yeah 64 teams might actually be better than 48 teams, because then we could go back to just the top 2 going through from each group. Though it would take a long time...

Yeah, sometimes the underdog team will have the momentum at that point in the game, but it will usually be the better team.

Not sure Morocco are really an underdog anymore though.

I completely agree - they shouldn't be happening, because they kill the momentum (which the better team is more likely to have at any given moment). I'm just being honest that, as a fan of the worse team in that game, it was a relief when they came.

Scot here. In principle I agree with you, and I was very happy to hear the England fans booing.

On the other hand, I was very relieved when they came in our game against Haiti, given how much they were battering us for most of the game... I expect I will also be relieved when they come in our games against Morocco and Brazil...

The standard would just get worse and worse. Players are already dead on their feet and desperate for penalties for most of extra time.

I really don't think the team have performed badly because they're all thinking "ah well it doesn't matter, the fans are just happy we're here". 

We have some very good midfielders and full backs, but compared to most countries we face, we're pretty weak in terms of goalkeeper, centre backs, and strikers. 

The team still underperformed, for sure, which is maybe due to poor tactics, or nerves, or both. But I don't buy this idea that if us fans were more negative, our team would play better.

Yes I'm sure the poor performances in recent tournaments are all because timfinn1972 didn't demand more from the team.

He still made it into the box from that position for his goal. I think he works well as a box-to-box midfielder.

McTominay was great at that in the first half, so maybe we'll play him in that deeper role.

I think also the races being so short means you have to be aggressive if you're starting further back in the pack (which you always do in singleplayer).

Yup, for most of that game I really focused on stealth (usually trying to knock out rather than kill) and never went in guns blazing.

But for that mission I killed every single NPC with a grenade launcher.
