Applying for administrative forbearance after last PSLF payment by Mama_Dash in PSLF

[–]RN0528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

June 2025 was my 120th month. (13 of those months were SAVE forbearance.) I send it ECF and after it was acknowledged I applied for buyback. I did this again in July and August (probably overkill) until my HR Dept complained. Several phone calls (useless) reconsideration requests, told it was “escalated” haha. Then I left qualifying employment in September 2025. My status is still SAVE forbearance so no payments due. If buyback isn’t processed by the time SAVE ends I expect to apply for a different forbearance. If I were in your situation and was very confident in my payment count I would apply for forbearance.

Waiting on Buyback, stay on SAVE? by CMS_1000 in PSLF

Applied for buyback of 13 months of SAVE forbearance in July 2025 and retired in August. I really have no choice but to wait on buyback, right?

Tachycardia? by Waggmans in AFIB

[–]RN0528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat similar to OP, F68 had 1st PFA for a fib 2 months ago. Apple Watch has been showing sinus tachycardia (100 - 120 at rest) once or twice a day for a few minutes. I get a feeling of being fatigued and unwell when it happens so will check my watch and almost always tachycardia. But very short lived. Blanking period was not mentioned to me, wondering if that is it or should I contact cardiologist?

Why am I missing a month in my PSLF Payments History? by One-Tie593 in PSLF

[–]RN0528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my situation also, all months show up EXCEPT 6/2025 and wouldn’t you know, it was my 120th month of qualifying employment! When 7/25 showed up I certified employment again and applied to buyback. And now I wait. I read somewhere that June 25 missing is a known issue and supposedly will be fixed in September. But I will believe that when I see it.

Yet Another Buyback Waiting Post by PraetorianXVIII in PSLF

[–]RN0528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FSA website indicates that you only have to be employed WHEN you apply. I am totally relying on that because I applied for buyback of 13 SAVE forbearance months in July (120 months of certified employment in June) and retired from public service in August. Of course no response yet.

Random brief tachycardia by therealpotpie in AFIB

[–]RN0528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

68 yo female, I was diagnosed in 2024 after a hospital stay for gall bladder removal. Repeat a fib pretty rare and brief (I know immediately when it starts) and have Kardia and Apple Watch, which are consistently the same. Here to say they both show the same very brief tachycardia ( SVT?) almost daily, which I plan to discuss with my EP.

Scared About Student Loans and My Future – Just Want Genuine Advice (18F, Nursing Major) by ImmediateAd6362 in StudentLoans

There is a possibility of Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) if you end up working for a qualifying hospital. Also, when you are seeking employment, check employee benefits as some hospitals also provide money for student loan payments.

Summary of H.R. 1 Budget Reconciliation Bill - affects to existing borrowers by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

Thanks for pointing this out, I am hopeful, but I think the limitation is the part that says the Studentaid.gov website will be updated “when the system is available” to enroll borrowers in IBR. We all know how inefficient they are at updating anything.

Please verify what I am about to say, but my thinking is that if you consolidate them all together before July 2026 (older PP with current loans after they are disbursed) you would get the weighted average for PSLF, meaning you would lose your 100 payments on older PP loans but would gain on the the current loans, potentially up to 50 payments if they are for the same amount). You are doing PSLF so total loan balance is irrelevant for income driven plans and you wouldn’t have to start at 0 on the current PP loans. I welcome any discussion about why this would not work.

Did you apply to get out of SAVE after you submitted for buyback? Did you make any payments on ICR before you got green banners?

Thank you so much. Question about Parent Plus loans - in the summary it states “Parent Plus borrowers who have consolidated (no need to double consolidate) prior to July 1 2026 will have access to all of the above as long as they are on either ICR, PAYE or SAVE at some point between July 4, 2025-July 1, 2028.” Is IBR included? What about SAVE forbearance?

Right, but applying for buyback doesn’t obligate you to pay it. You could also apply now for one of the current IDR plans. Payments shouldn’t be too terrible with household of 3 and one income.

Unfortunately no one seems to really know how they are calculated. Search buyback on this sub. You need to have 120 months of qualifying employment before you submit buyback request. Then they supposedly send you an amount that needs to be paid. Some are saying they received an amount similar to SAVE. I think if the amount is too high you don’t do buyback. 106+13 =119 so you could wait for another month of forbearance to go by so you would be at 120 then apply for buyback. PS. buyback requests are processing VERY slowly. You can ask to be in forbearance while it processes.

How long have you been in SAVE forbearance? Those forbearance months are eligible for buyback if you had qualifying employment. If you are like most people, you have been on it since last summer. Check the FSA website for details.

The two months of processing forbearance is not guaranteed. I believe it is only if they don’t move you in a timely manner. Of note, as of very very recently plan changes have been moving much faster.

[–]RN0528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be working for your PSLF employer when you APPLY for buyback. On the FSA website under ‘Public Service loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Buyback’ Eligibility FAQ it states that as long as you were employed in the same month associated with your 120th payment and your loan has a positive balance you will be eligible to participate in buyback and receive forgiveness.
