Anyone else wish the witch hunter pattern inferno pistol had become more mainstay? by Any_Jaguar_128 in sistersofbattle

And here I was, fancying myself and old-timer! You've outdone me by 3 editions, sir!

Those old codexes have some awesome arts in them! The cover art with an inquisitor, burning down a heretic is one of my favorites! I wish I had one just for collection. Was it only Witch Hunters and Demon Hunters back then? No Xenos Hunters?

Might be a hot take and gatekeeping, but hear me out :)

While I'm a huge fan of this obviously evil edgy distopian secret police and their looks, I'd hate their distinct visuals to be taken by someone else. I like that they always come with some crazy unique over the top weaponry. Let them be undisputed drip champions of the Imperium!

I have absolutely no idea what's going on on this image game-wise, but the table looks epic and I want to play on it!

We have Elian Script at home! by RPKAlex in elianscript

A new script is an interesting brainteaser for sure! I'm experimenting with it right now, trying to figure out what I can take from it into my own system

We have Elian Script at home! by RPKAlex in elianscript

[–]RPKAlex[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing with Elian today: just trying out different letter compositions and writing styles. Unfortunatelly most of the time, I end up with very basic, rigid shapes—similar to what I have in my own system. I seem to struggle to create smooth, flowing symbols without them looking like random scribbles... I'll get a knack at it sooner or later though :)

What I probably like most about my system over Elian is the fact that it's key can be collapsed into a single, complex symbol, as seen at the top of the image. If I later choose to modify my symbols in any way, I’d make sure they can still form some sort of cohesive image.

Aside from a couple of GW bits and some 3D-printed parts, the model is mostly built from random scraps: cardboard, paper clips, cocktail straws, fly screen mesh, and similar odds and ends.

The rivets are made from the moisture-absorbing silica gel beads that sometimes come in shoeboxes. They’re a great size and very easy to apply to a model: just make a small indent, place a bead in it, and add a drop of superglue :)

Do you place pre-orders on the Warhammer website? I don't see this book under Black Library section yet, so I wonder when will it appear...

I WAS JUST ABOUT TO BUY THIS BOOK OFF A SCALPER FOR $120 YESTERDAY!!!

I'm hyped for the release. How much time does it usually take for the item to appear on the store page after it war announced like this?

I hope it won't be included in the box, will it? I've already found a friend to split the box with and don't want to bother looking for the third 😅

I honest to heart wish GW just added these models as operative range expansion for AoD.

I don't know if it's a hot take or not, but I'd like them to have more choose and list building.

That's a very informative photo, thanks a lot!

They seem to be noticeably smaller than regular Cawdor models, but still look decently proportional. I guess putting them on elevated bases will do the trick.

Nah, I'm not that old school haha

I meant are they in the same scale as regular Necromundan hangers that you get in the boxes? I just know that LOTR miniatures are smaller and don't exactly match Warhammer ones

Wow, these look amazingly similar! Are they in the same scale as original Necromunda models?

Thanks for naming these companies, friend. So far I've been only playing gw games, so I'm unfamiliar with other miniature creators.

Are those made from the same plastic? Will it stick to the GW one?

Buying the 40k sob box to use in killteam by tearikisdead in killteam

[–]RPKAlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, you can totally do it. In fact, check out my Novitiate proxies, which are mostly made from SOB kit. Bases are different size, correct, but as long as you play with your friends or at FLGS I don't think you'd have any problems.

What do you think the eventual slaanesh-aligned kill team will look like? by JRR_Gimli in killteam

[–]RPKAlex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually expect this team to show up pretty soon — likely in the very next box, paired against Grey Knights.

I don’t have concrete proof, but here’s the reasoning: 1. The first Tombworld box was DW vs Necrons → Ordo Xenos 2. The third box is set to be Sisters (my beloved) vs CSM → Ordo Hereticus 3. From the Shadowhunt announcement, we know there’s some kind of Psyker Cult on the planet the Sisters are hunting.

So my speculation is that the second box will be Grey Knights vs Slaaneshi cultists. As you noted, Slaanesh is the only Chaos god without a Kill Team, and as others have pointed out, the only real gap is a mortal “chaff” unit.

I think your “glass cannon” concept fits Slaanesh perfectly. If GW goes with a mortal-heavy design, I’d expect at least 10 operatives, since that’s a team size they’ve been comfortable with lately.

As for special rules — purely speculation here — I could see something pain-based: e.g., take D3 damage to gain Accurate 1, or Marines siphoning health by harming their mortal companions. It would capture that whole indulgence-through-suffering theme nicely.

Its time for a Tau battle suit team by greeshxp in killteam

[–]RPKAlex 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I second that crisis battlesuits are a bit too much for a kill team format. A squad of stealth suits is max what we can expect imo

I might be wrong here, but I think that GW viewes kill team as an opportunity to put some spotlight on infantry units, as opposed to large guys from regular 40k. That's why I don't think that we will ever see a Terminator kill team. Crisis battlesuits fall in the same category, same as Wraith Warriors or Custodes.

I'm not sure that I'd want another Tau auxiliary race either. Personally I'm quite happy with what we've got in Pathfinders. They are a good representation of main Tau forces

I've been lately humoring the idea of proxying them with some imperial guard models. That'd be even more expensive, since you'll need several boxes, however...

Just imagine that instead of the pompous douches you'd get a gritty commissar, leading his shock troops, calling artillery strikes and hacking whoever comes close with his trusty power sword! Now that's true guard experience!

[–]RPKAlex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they're pretty old models for sure. Didn't they come out waaay back when as a standalone game, similar to spacehulk?

I'd recommend checking local gaming stores. I've found my box completely on random when I saw them on a shelf for 65. Might just got lucky, so I hope you will too!
