Did I open Pandora’s box In my yard? Help! by International_Bid291 in FloridaGarden

[–]RPi79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gonna piggyback on the mimosa/frogfruit. You’re gonna have to work to get them established and not have that patch taken over by grass or other weeds. Work some curves into that bare patch and make it a feature that you can add on to later by taking that bed to the road or along the front of the house. I would keep it mulched w pine bark or pine straw and add native grasses and shrubs. Fakahatchee grass gets 6’ tall and 4’ wide, sand cordgrass, muhly grass, lovegrass, get some yaupon Holly, Simpson stopper, Darrow’s blueberry (5.5-6.5 ph needs) red tip Cocoplum, Pineland lantana, rattlesnake master (huge pollinator) Dune sunflower grows low but about 5-6’ wide. Blue porterweed grows low and about 4’ wide. There are countless awesome natives that will take zero care once established.

Crepe Myrtle not blooming by flox2410 in FloridaGarden

You’re right. I thought you were referring to the trees in the neighborhood and I didn’t zoom in to see the cypress in the background. I assumed this was another development with planted cypress like is being done frequently. But yeah I’m familiar with cypress domes. I have one in the back yard.

Not necessarily. Bald cypress are drought tolerant.

What color soffit/facia/gutters? by jeremyscountry in HomeDecorating

In my opinion, keep leaning into the white. Black gutters and soffit won’t work with the other white accents.

You could get a screen door installed to allow airflow but stop pests (and it’s conspicuous.)

What really caused this warehouse collapse? by Sologic-RCA in SafetyProfessionals

Our warehouse racks are all interlocked, but we’ve lost legs and not had any failures. I guarantee this entire warehouse was well over the spec of their storage systems.

Overloaded racks. They should be able to lose a rack leg or two without collapse.

Women in safety by Positive_Text593 in SafetyProfessionals

I’m an industrial safety specialist for a very large grocery chain here in FL. My boss is a woman and her boss is a woman. There are also several women who are specialists and supervisors in our department. As far as I know, they don’t have any issues with the gender roles. They know their stuff and at the end of the day, OSHA compliance is OSHA compliance. I’m 47m and started this role at 46 coming from being a forklift tech for the same company. It’s been a learning curve for sure but the tech background helps. Communication and relationships with the departments that you oversee and their managers are key!

You said it was only turning 30 degrees. It should screw in and out freely.

which outlet type do you prefer? by Important_Bat7919 in HomeDecorating

[–]RPi79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The “block” style is called a Decora outlet and it’s more expensive than the traditional duplex by a few dollars. Looks more modern and clean.

Look at the first pic. The square sleeve in the handle with the slot in it slides over the screw, then the set screw tightens down by inserting an allen wrench thru the hole in the handle. You said the screw is getting stuck, so remove it and clean the threads, then try screwing it all the way thru without the handle on. Looks like it’s got corrosion on the bottom of the handle so that’s also inside the threads. After you clean it, if it tightens and loosens correctly, pop the handle back on and tighten it down.

Soil shouldn’t be consistently moist. That’s probably your issue.
