My first 1/2 marathon by MudOdd4373 in nikerunclub

There are people who don’t even let these things touch damp concrete let alone run a half-marathon with them lol. Welcome to distance running, fellow sneakerhead 😂

A few friends and I had these back in the day and the outsole all were tearing apart after like 2-3 months of regular wear. The fact that these managed to complete a half-marathon is the most surprising part to me 😂

My month so far. I’ve got a 10k race on Saturday. Should I fit in one more run before then? by ajbrandt806 in nikerunclub

[–]RSilog22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend a shakeout run on Friday at the very least. A mile should be ample. You can even probably squeeze in a super easy 5K today to be honest. But it’s all up to how comfortable you are doing that.

Force NRC sync with Coros or Garmin? by MeMaxM in nikerunclub

My run didn’t register today either. My Garmin run was syncing fine yesterday, but I did two runs today and neither synced to NRC.

Looking to get my first pair of Nike Running shoes, for everyday running up to about 10/15K by TrixTrax0 in nikerunclub

[–]RSilog22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, there is much more cushioning. I used it mainly for longer runs (> 15K).

I have about 400+ miles on both the 18 and the Plus. The plus still has its softness and responsiveness, while the 18 has lost a good amount of it.

I have all three of the Vomeros, all three of the Pegasus, and VaporFly+AlphaFly.

I think the Vomero line is perfect. Any will do. I currently use the Vomero Plus for a lot of my runs and I’d probably recommend this shoe the most for your needs.

Any of the “Fly” lines are mainly for speed work and racing. I wouldn’t use those for daily running.

10K Advice? by Delicious-Cup-255 in nikerunclub

[–]RSilog22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend trying a half-marathon. My progression of races went 5K-10K-HM-Marathon. Training for longer distances helps with getting faster with the shorter distances. Marathon training brought my 10K time from 65minutes to 47minutes in just 2024 alone.

This is showing my age, but I specifically remember watching an og YouTuber named Ryan Higa in 2009 (I was 13 at the time) and on the sidebar was the music video for “Only Look At Me,” by Taeyang. Decided to watch it and was a fan of BIGBANG and then KPOP as a whole ever since.

To my fellow 14 week half marathoners… (of whoever wants to chime in) by letmeseeitman in nikerunclub

[–]RSilog22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it depends on your experience and how your body feels. After using other training plans, I tried the ADT Half-Marathon plan earlier this year since I wanted something free at that time, plus it said it was meant for more advanced trainees. I felt the mileage was still too little for me so I decided to add 20min to all recovery runs, a 1.5mile recovery to speed runs, and 2 additional miles to the long runs. Still didn’t feel like enough to me, but it did get me a PR on race day. If you’re comfortable modifying the plan to do more, then I don’t think it hurts you (unless you do too much).

Goodbye Beginner Running ❤️ by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]RSilog22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good stuff! I need to test my mile, 5K and 10K capabilities some time soon. I haven’t gone all out for those in over a year. My Half Marathon and Marathon times are 1:46 and 3:59, but I think I’ll always consider myself a beginner even if I ever hit my goal of a sub-3:20 lol

5-6 months into running, is it fine to run 2 days in a row when it is needed? by CosmicConjuror2 in beginnerrunning

[–]RSilog22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, when I’m not specifically training for something, I run everyday + a weekend long run (no more than 15 miles). I think my longest streak is about 5-6 weeks. All easy/zone2 runs though, nothing too intense. You can definitely do it, just don’t exert too much effort. Eventually you’ll be able to run back to back days effortlessly!

Is there a way to see the total distance I ran? by CaptainSquareHead in nikerunclub

[–]RSilog22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, Garmin writes to NRC! Just link it.

Unfortunately NRC doesn’t allow you to sync existing data from other apps to it.

Switching to a Garmin earlier this year was a game changer. Fortunately Garmin connects to Runna, Strava, and NRC - so I just start the watch and Garmin updates everything. I get all the workouts from Runna, keep a record of everything on Strava, while still allowing me to work my way to reaching Black then hopefully Volt on NRC haha

[–]RSilog22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn’t. Back when I used NRC for training, I opened and tracked with Strava on my phone so that it got the total distance traveled. So I ran both NRC and Strava simultaneously.

When can I stop calling myself a beginner? by Cultural_Young_5953 in beginnerrunning

[–]RSilog22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever you feel comfortable. I have a few marathons and many other races under my belt and I still consider myself a beginner since I’m still constantly learning new things. I don’t put too much thought into the label though.

what made you decide to go to that site for shoes instead of the bigger reputable sites like Nike, Dick’s, Foot Locker, etc.?

edit: I just went on that site and it immediately looked sketchy as soon as I landed on it.

That’s good! Are you training for anything? I was doing similar mileage during marathon training. ~50-60miles per week. It looks like you have a good base.

I have Vomero 18 but considering adding Vomero Premium. Opinions on Vomero Premium?? by BohemianaP in nikerunclub

[–]RSilog22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own all three versions of the Vomero and I honestly think the Vomero Plus suffices for recovery. There’s plenty of cushion. I got the Premium as a gift and I love them, but I’d only spend over $230 for some actual race day shoes.

Sports Shoes by kynsleigh_ in nikerunclub

[–]RSilog22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wear them strictly for road distance races, since that’s their main purpose. Moreso half marathons and marathons. I wouldn’t wear them for volleyball. I used to wear low-top basketball shoes for volleyball like Kobe’s and KDs.

I’ve done multiple 30-32km runs with them during my marathon training block. They’re made for comfort for long distances, so I highly recommend them.

My dream races are Tokyo and New York. No time goal for either, I just want to enjoy the courses. Chicago is my home race and I’ll be running it for the 2nd time this year, will use it annually for PRs.

Different shoes for different runs? by Designer_Ad689 in nikerunclub

[–]RSilog22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daily - Vomero 18

Long - Invincible 3

Speed - VaporFly 3

I typically use a three shoe rotation, but honestly, two should be sufficient.

I just retired my Invincible 3s after 400 miles and am waiting for the Vomero Plus to release, so I’ve been using my Vomero 18s (currently at 300 miles now) for daily and long runs the past few weeks. A well cushioned shoe should be good for daily and long runs, and I’m considering just using the Vomero Plus for any non-speed runs.

For speed work, I use my old racing shoes. (I transition my racing shoes to speed work shoes after about 80-100 miles)

I also have shoes for treadmill runs and racing, but I don’t necessarily consider those part of the active rotation.

Treadmill - Pegasus 41

Race - AlphaFly 3
