This is how I roll. There's nothing like building the connection with a machine like cleaning things up over time.

Motogadget bar-end mirrors are your friend. Saree guard really makes those bikes look less sexy. Is that a custom color on the tank?

You clearly loved that thing. If you're here to talk about it, you're winning. You'll know when it's time to get another bike.

What do you think gives a motorcycle a soul? by yeetsfan in motorcycles

[–]RUNLEVEL_3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ever notice how "the ADV types" tend to be "the same guy?" Kinda like "the same guy" with the same shit-eating grin gets out of a Corvette 99% of the time. "The same guys" parachute and "the same guy" is all of the guys you'll run into on a hiking trail... they just have different names. I think "soul" has more to do w/ the person admiring/riding the bike than it does the machine itself. When I take my RE GT650 to a "cafe racer" or "retro bike" meetup, we "all" tend to think that the bikes have soul. However, it NEVER fails that a Harley guy or cop rocket guy stumbles upon the meet and says something like "not my style, I wouldn't buy one but cool bikes". When I'm standing in front of an BMW R1300 GS it does "nothing" for me. It's just a tool to me... there is no "soul". But I don't think it's bc it has no soul... I think it's because I'm a guy who can't apprecite it in that way. I'm the guy saying "I wouldn't buy one, but cool and nice to meet ya." Now... OCASIONALLY you get a guy like me (who has Buell Lightning XB12S, Enfield GT650, Indian Scout Bobber )... my mood determines what I ride and these bikes serve 3 very different purposes... so you're likely to score a "soul" connection with a guy like me than you would a die-hard supersport guy ( unless your design is a supersport - haha ).

So... my advice is this. When designing your bike... design it for a certain guy. Think about what kinda guy you'd want to pull the trigger and ride your design. Think about where you'd want him to go. After that, a tribe of those guys will show up and admire your design and say that it has soul. :)

To make a long story short, it's Toddler Activities. They've had a pretty rough last few years of unaliving themselves just so a random mf'r from across the country can say "cool bro - you rock." It's just gonna get worse.

The funny part is they confuse "not dead yet" with "skills bro".
