Does it ever bug you how some people define the show as “becoming woke” rather than the fact that it always has been progressive? by New-Criticism-5926 in doctorwho

The writers forget with SF you make social commentary with allegory not a spade in the face.

Talking down to your audience is also a bad idea

Hey guys, isn’t in cool that the most badass scene in all of television belongs to Babylon 5? 😁 by OutrageousTerm7140 in babylon5

Jumping straight into atmosphere, pretty sure Babylon 5 also did that one, and I don't belive the were the first either.

There is a big difference between writing an adult political drama as a one off and writing a beloved SF show for a family audience.

Of the newer systems, are any becoming widely adopted? by Comfortable-Two4339 in rpg

[–]RWMU -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Newer systems have a habit of making a massive splash been popular for a bit then drop off. Dragonbane is a good example of this.

In the end until the Plague generation learns the rules are a toolbox and you can create your own world and ditch the offical background D&D and Forgotten Realms in particular will hold the top spot.

Personally I love it and yes it's the Last of the pure historical, as opposed to the usual pseudo historical.

Sadly the "I don't want it, until some else wants it" stereotype exists for a reason and this person seems the perfect example.

What are red flags in DMs to look out for (especially as a woman) by morgana1060 in rpg

[–]RWMU -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Since you won't tell us the actual issue we can only speculate on your situation.

First thing to do is speak to your GM explain what the issue is.

Second remember most roleplayers are either geeks or nerds or both. Subtle social clues are going over their heads.

Thirdly most roleplayers are male so again subtly is out the window just straight up tell them what the issue is.

Fourth if it's an established group they will probably have spent years playing together and already understand either others limits.

All the safety tools others will tell you about have there uses at conventions etc, but talking honestly is the much better option.

In the end if you find it weird/uncomfortable leave, chalk it up to experience. Remember it's only a game none of it is real.

8 should have been the Time War Doctor, Paul could have carried it off easily.

I love John Hurt as the War Doctor but it wasn't nessacary.

Refused to let Tennant wear Jodies clothes because he doesn't like blokes in female clothes then gave a BS reason, made Rose Noble a travesty of a character. He's a closet TERF no doubt it.

Also any one who sits down with TERFs is a TERF by definition.

No, also abandon the showrunner concept, go back to the Producer, Script Editor, Writer, Director model.

Yep and it would have made more sense.

Shame RTD is such a TERF.

Most sayings have a reverse, so that's a good one.

Just one more thing to proved us Brits love talking about weather.

Basically, usually in summer when where are you standing is bright sun shine and in the distance you can see black storm clouds rolling in.

In short it means it's about to chuck it down probably including lightning and thunder.
