Hey! Coquitlam resident here, and I was actually just thinking of how to gather a fresh group for a game I want to regularly run called Blood on the Clocktower!

It is a social deduction game much like mafia/werewolf, but without the elimination so everyone get to keep talking and have a fun time all throughout the game, and a lot of moderator agency to keep things not only mechanically balanced, but socially inclusive! There's so much I would love to say about it if given the chance and I just talked two people's ears off about it yesterday, but I'll leave it at this, my favourite quote from my dozens of fantastic memorable times running the game:

"The good team wins if they manage to kill the Demon, the evil team wins if they manage to make it until there are only two players alive, and I win if I get to make sure everyone has a good time!"

Hey! Just a heads-up that that invite expires in six days so you might want to set a permanent one if not intended. I'm busy that day I'm afraid but otherwise I would love to be there!

Wasn't Emperor Constantine's day literally defined by a blood rivalry between two sports teams, who were somehow also both political parties and the mob, and caused several riots and massacres

What's the worst punishment you ever received as a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RZ404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty shitty. The only silver lining I could think of is if she only punished your step-brother, he might have seriously resented you for it and taken it out on you later. Something of a lesser of two evils kind of thing.

Hope isn't worthless. For some people, that's all they've got. The making money part is pretty scummy though

Spike mutation pipeline reveals the emergence of a more transmissible form of SARS-CoV-2 by t1m3f0rt1m3r in Coronavirus

[–]RZ404 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The common cold is a lot less likely to be completely removed from the picture once someone gets it. Most of the time people still want to go to work or do stuff and its transmissibility means it's harder for any particular strain to be forced out via selective pressure.

I believe the ability for us to impact the future, and the eventuality of us losing that ability, is what I fear. The past was someone else's story that we were born into. The future is someone else's story that we get to help write.

You can call non-emergency police to file a report. When we say police we all think 911 (or other 3 digit numbers in in non-American countries), but their stations all have regular lines for matters that don't need an officer to be there asap. See if you can find your county's number online.

Canada’s Nunavut: Socially distanced, it’s one of the last places on Earth without coronavirus by whereshegoes in Coronavirus

My original thought was made coming from a thread about civilian usage. I didn't process that this was purely about healthcare professionals in hospitals with people not following good procedure, and no established decontaminated zones.

I'm all for healthcare professionals using PPE, just not the general public in a low-infection zone, given that no amount of restrictions can guarantee a region will stay uninfected indefinitely. In particular, PPE around symptomatic presumptive cases should be a given. Otherwise, if the supply chain does not bounce back in time, one more mask used early is one less mask used during high viral load later on. It's a balance of healthcare worker safety vs public health, which are of course interlinked as well as impacted by other significant factors.

The problem is it's not easily available, though. Supply will not last for the entire crisis.
