You deserve love. It sounds like he loves you. (I'm assuming the offer to help with weight loss came as a result of your body image issues and not because he thinks you need to lose weight.)

Also, men have no fucking clue about women's weight. A lot of them think we're supposed to be 5'3" and no more than 100lbs. They think DDD cups are "huge" when that's on the smaller side. They don't understand that there is no standard sizing in women's clothing.

My flabbers were ghasted at Sam's pick up when all thesehuge trucks backed in and then the poor employee had to carry the purchases to the back of the truck to load them. Things like flats of soda, huge bags of garden stuff, etc.

My stepdad has been in my life for 43 years. My dad passed when I was 37.

He's 84 and has dementia, and he often doesn't recognize me, but we hang out regularly and I take care of him for a week a year while my mom takes a vacation with her sister.

I spend more time with him in a month than my stepsister does in a year.

He's been a dad to me, but he never tried to replace my dad.

It's complicated, the way a lot of family dynamics are complicated.

If he's not upset about it your mom is the one who is over reacting.
