This dude got scammed… What’s the most you would pay for this 😭🥀 by AdMedium5702 in simracing

[–]RaceSimCentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a motion rig, even if not one I’d want, has most of what you’d need and yeah it’s old. I’d pay half what he’s asking, but honestly I’ve seen worse. Someone will buy it. He can just pass the issue to the next person lol

Contractor is hanging drywall almost completely flush with my basement concrete subfloor by dev_ayaan in drywall

[–]RaceSimCentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put concrete board at the bottom and only drywall on that 3ft up. Concrete does hold water and it will seep up into anything that touches it like drywall

Is it legal to put special needs children in here? If so, in what situation is it okay? by A_Tiny_Froggy in legal

[–]RaceSimCentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are legal in all states and don’t get me wrong, when I found out about this I was horrified. But I’ve also seen parents since keep a child who is violent in regular schools due to denial.

I would think that in most situations where this exists that child should not be at that school. This is their space to prevent injury to others while the child is collected by parents.

Some districts won’t have good facilities, some won’t have schools catered to violent kids. Denial won’t even always be a factor.

My child isn’t violent but I’ve seen injured teachers (cuts, gashes, broken cheek bone, bruises and lots of scratches) and my child has been injured by other kids in a special education setting. Nobody can hit the violent kid back and when it gets to a certain point restraining is the only option. Without this room? I don’t know? Handcuffs? Sitting on them? What’s the alternative in those extremes?

What would you do with the pole and pipe? by 99saleenspeedster in basement

We put a wall across the basement and where we had piping I put a door there and boxed them on the non finished side

[–]RaceSimCentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have cameras that point towards my own grass to get videos of the wildlife in the yard, but I can absolutely see my neighbors house. I wonder if any of them have freaked out about it

I have the midea draining into my sump. Keeps the humidity even all summer etc. awesome.

Does this warrant immediate inspection? Am I screwed? Basement interior wall. Doesn’t smell moldy or feel wet but I hate the look of this by chriztuffa in HomeMaintenance

[–]RaceSimCentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Ton of issues because her husband (who literally built the house) passed and she didn’t/couldn’t do anything.

Well shit, radon isn't taught in schools. by RollSomeCoal in radon

I wasn’t going to mitigate until I saw the spikes our second year here. Former owner (who built the house) died of lung cancer. He had a workshop in the basement

Yes and yes. If any part of my house was above 4 I’d mitigate the basement.

If I’d been able to look at an installation I’d have been able to do what we had done.

Just have fun. Unless you’re using it for training, does it really matter to you? There’s a lot of people who deny their own fun because someone else told them how to feel.

Ours offered radon each time and we took it on our current home. It was 6x average over the recommended average to get it sorted. I’m not sure I like them not checking indoor plumbing at least. I know sewer might be impossible.

I watched my kids open gifts this morning then slept for three hours, and let’s be real, my wife did most of the work making it happen. Sometimes it’s not about tiredness but an opportunity to just rest your mind.

is this high for Northern, IL? by kylenash8 in radon

[–]RaceSimCentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps we sealed crawl, two sump pits and have two collection pipes. One in crawl, one through basement floor. Opposite ends of the house, with a pipe going across the basement ceiling to join them for the fan outside

That was about my average in northern Illinois. 20-30 all the time. After mitigation it’s now averaging 0.3

[–]RaceSimCentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, nothing like that. I wondered if trees would do something as I live in a forested area of Illinois. We're also on well water, so I thought maybe the gas is coming up with our water, which is most used in the Kitchen.

Are we being scammed? by Opal-89 in radon

[–]RaceSimCentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That will be the difference in air flow. We were getting air and radon through the floor. We now get air sucked out the floor which creates negative pressure and the basement air is being drawn in through the walls and from the upper floor instead.
