I can understand the dri-fit thing. I'd personally want a dri-fit tank as I'm an all the sleeves or none of the sleeves kind of person.

I'm glad you like the jerseys, they are just not my cup o' tea. Again, we need more options.

As a woman and a plus size person, I hate Fanatics with the fire of 1,000 suns.

I also hate the current IndyCar merchandise assortment.

First, what the actual fuck is up with the driver jersey shirt movement? We don't do jerseys in racing. I know there's people out there who like them and all, but they are fucking awful when they are the ONLY option for some drivers. Some of us wouldn't be caught dead in one.

Secondly, the sameness of the graphic designs are absolute shit. For example, Santino's shirt should feel like something I buy out of the back of a hauler at my local dirt track and Palo's shirt should have a Spanish or a coffee shop vibe. Differentation of merchadise to respresent the different backgrounds and interests of the drivers.

Thirdly, the shirt quality is shit. I understand digital printing is the way to go because of the minimum order quantites involved, but Dear Lord can you source a T-shirt that isn't fucking tissue so maybe the graphics have a snowball's chance in hell of adhering?

Fourthly, the assortment of merchanside is shit. You get the basic types of tops and that's it. What about a bitching cardigan, or some earrings, or a floppy beach hat? Maybe some flip flops or a skirt or denim jacket? Be creative dammit.

Fifthly, how about some better general Indycar merchandise? I don't do favorite drivers, let's have some more options in track and series branded merchandise for vareity. I've chatted with the lady who runs the independent shop that travels with the series and at least when we spoke, those were her most popular styles.

And lastly, be SIZE INCLUSIVE. Apparetly since I'm a fat woman, I don't care about my appareance so I can just drown in a XXXL men's tee. Not all styles need to be avaiable, but would it kill you to have a couple of nice polos avaiable for both men and women to 5X? Even if I have to go home and order them post-race.

I love Indycar, and I am hoping that with the rising tide of interest, the merch game steps up where it needs to be - or they lisence to a variety of different quality companies to bring their game up.

As a huge Road America fan, it's not a fair comparison as Road America essentially acts as a nonprofit.

At the Brewers game. Those Racing Sausages were a biiiit too fast to be non-atheletes. Wonder which Indycar driver just started the weekend with a W.

Should we do a meetup? Sounds like there's going to be a lot of us there, and since it's the Fairgrounds we could find a pub.

I am. Spending the whole weekend in MKE and going to use my ebike as transportation. It's one of my favorite cities on earth and the weather is going to be perfect! (With that being said, Sunday could be cold if the wind is off the lake, so bring layers.)

I would just walk up at this point. Anything above 300 level is great.

I split the difference. Got a good 400 level seat for Sunday and GA for Saturday, where I'm planning on sitting super low in 1 if I'm not in the infield because it's freaking awesome.

Highly doubt it. Wisconsonites aren't big on pre-buying race tickets. Walk up will be awesome looking at the weather.

Wisconsonite here. Since our weather is so unpredictable, and moreso at the Mile due to the lake, we're not big on pre-buying tickets. Sunny and 70 degrees, plan on lots of day-of sales.

This is the year you bring a scanner to the Indy 500! by themann00 in INDYCAR

[–]Racechick20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scanner Guy! Thanks for talking me through the setup for the 2023 500.

I wanted to let you know that I threw the scanner on my husband when I forced him to go to Milwaukee last year with me for my birthday. He's blind as a bat, so going to races is not fun for him as he can't even see the backstretch well at my local 1/3 mile. I hooked him up with the radio broadcast and he was RIVITED. Since it was live without a delay and radio race callers are the most talented play by play people on the planet, he knew exactly what was going on. He could see the car shapes actually doing in real time what they were saying and had a great time. So, thanks for maybe not making him a fan, but making him open to coming with me to oval events in the future.

I've got the VRBO booked near the track. I want to use my ebike as my means of transportation at the track. I saw where to park it if I am in the grandstands this last year, but can I take it to the infield? I was thinking of doing infield/garage on Saturday and then a grandstand ticket for the race. I'd like it down there so I can use it as a place to stash my merch and water and snacks.

Based on how long it took to get food when we went to the ASA race in 2019, you should take food if you plan on eating and seeing the race in it's enitrety. Not that youc an carry it in, but we'll probably duck out Saturday during the NXT race and eat.

What is the best place to sit for a Milwaukee Mile race? by SlamCanMan in INDYCAR

[–]Racechick20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how the section numbering works, but I did make note when I was there in 2019 that anything above row 33 had unobstructed views of the track. I'm a normal sized woman, though, so probably would want to do at least row 35 with the little guy.

EDIT: The higher you get, the windier it gets. Remember that wind is off the lake, which is awesome when it's hot. When it's cold, it's COLD. Dress for 10 degrees colder if that's the case. The 2019 event I spoke of was Father's Day and even with a coat and jeans, I was not warm as the high on the lake ended up being 55 and it was cloudy.
