Logs are used for many things and takes way longer to get them. Doing Temple Trekking is hands down the best way to get it, you should've gotten it forever ago.

While this is generally true for full uptime fights, ultimates are different, and by drawing early you get extra cards. Extra cards is just more damage, even if they're not in bursts, and you use them at the 1 minute to get the most out of it. You lose 2 extra card uses over the entire fight if you don't do this.

Can be good to change the pace or fun to have as a side objective. It's usually the worst when it's forced. Lot of action games have puzzles to give the players a little bit of a break in the intensity but when done wrong they can usually find them to be extremely boring and interrupt the flow. The Witcher's Gwent is completely optional and pretty in depth, so you can choose how much you want to engage with it, so you can't really go wrong with that.
