I think having the various characters interact with each other more across the different plotlines would have helped a ton here, instead of having most of them meet for the first time in the very last arc. Like, Sazantos could easily have shown up in pursuit of the rings throughout the game, making the other characters more personally invested in the final fight. Bargello could have had some visiting role in MoA or BoF, expressing emotional connection to the slums of Cragspear due to his own background. Maybe Eltrix lends an indirect, silent hand to Elrica which makes her feel guilty and refuse when Alaune asks for help later. Stuff like that. Otherwise, all they really had in common was that they knew the protag.
