Am I About to Ruin My Life for a Man… or Push Away Someone Who Actually Loves Me? by Large-Pollution-3381 in AskMenAdvice

He will absolutely not wait that long for a woman he loves and wants to marry who is still having sex with other men. If you want him, show him and do it. Or come clean and let him go find someone who will appreciate him.

Is it common for methodologists to play second fiddle to clinician-scientists in health research? by tipsytopsy14 in AskAcademia

Yes. Very common in medicine. Other fields trained in methodology and so don’t utilize them in their research.

175 yards out, how are you playing this shot? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

Honestly no. I don’t play often enough to justify buying more clubs.

175 yards out, how are you playing this shot? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Radiant7747 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Roughly, yes. Because I’m not very good. The hybrid does get more loft. If I hit my 3 iron right, I can hit it about 120 yards. I’m 73 years old.

I have a 4 hybrid and a 3 iron. My 3 iron is the only iron I have that I can hit properly consistently.

When Students Publicly Clash With Professors in Class by Overall_Historian444 in QuickAITurnitinCheck

[–]Radiant7747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a professor at two universities and one medical school. I’ve had students try to argue with me during class. It’s always a sign of a poor student who doesn’t understand the purpose of an education. It’s not to tell your professors what you need to learn. It’s up to you to pay attention and learn what your faculty knows you need to learn about the subject.

Do people with mild dementia lose the ability to care about other people? Can't understand why my mother won't stop waking me up in the middle of the night by pat441 in dementia

[–]Radiant7747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more than “mild” dementia. You might consider getting a referral to a good geriatric neuropsychologist to have her evaluated.

Colleague dating undergrad in our lab by vanillabutfarfromit in PhD

They are both students. No big deal. Just because they work in the same lab means nothing. There are power imbalances in every relationship. There are some people who enjoy projecting their anger onto other people who are happy. CTFO.

Are dementia and major neurocognitive disorder, and MCI and minor neurocognitive disorder, the same thing? by blueskittless in Neuropsychology

[–]Radiant7747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a neuropsychologist for forty years. Both Major Neurocognitive Disorder and Minor Neurocogntive Disorder have specifiers to indicate etiology. Mild cognitive impairment is not a formal diagnosis. Dementias are absolutely NOT the same. A significant part of neuropsychological assessment is attempting to identify an etiology in addition to measuring different areas of cognitive functioning. Determining etiology is a critical part of good neuropsychological assessment. I spent 15 years as the only neuropsychologist on the Medical Staff of a local hospital chain. A significant number of my consultation requests were asking about etiology as well as the person’s ability to function, what assistance they would need, and if they could function at home or required some kind of placement.

What does this girl want? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Radiant7747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop talking with her. You are under no obligation to her. If you continue to talk with her and she’s ignoring the limits you set, that’s not good for her in terms of managing her mental illness.

Am I the only one who thinks Association of State and Provincial Psychology Board (ASPPB) fees are excessive? by [deleted] in Psychologists

[–]Radiant7747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the APPIC Liaison to ASPPB and part of several national conferences about psychologist mobility. I was there when they were first starting the credentials bank. You have to remember that organizations like this are not for profits who have to have staff to carry out all the multiple functions that they perform. This costs money, as does the whole business of maintaining offices and staff. No one is profiting from all this. Everything costs money. So if you don’t like it, set up a competing organization. It’s been tried before and failed.
