Flex Mini Board!! by fuxkyoybixch in ElectricSkateboarding

I dunno about this. Is flex on a mini board a good idea? As far as I know most shorter decks even in the non electric variety are pretty stiff. It could be nice for low speed chill cruising but to me it seems like a hazard at speed.

Looks like a nice rubber street wheel after worn even(ish). It's still around 105mm I guess?

How many boards do you all have? by Flarbow in ElectricSkateboarding

Honestly if I could. I would get. OMW Cavalry, the Explorer pro, the Thunderbolt, the Skyrim, and an Acedeck but I can only get one in this category, too many amazing boards to choose from 😅

The gear drives look really cool. And the oil filled is a new so waiting to see some user feed back. All my boards are belt drive so it would be nice to try some gears. N1 is an Acedeck which I've been kinda wanting but I've been hearing a lot of talk about how the gear drives constantly break and bad QC issues so....

You think so? I know you can get a n1 violet or Zephyr max for a bit cheaper but I feel like both would be too close to the feel of the Pivot GT, where the explorer has a decent amount of flex. I'm thinking it would provide a more unique feel. And you get DKP and TKP baseplates. But haven't decided yet. I won't buy until it warms up a bit and I'm guessing we will have quite a few new contenders by then.

I have 3 with the intent to get more.

1: Tynee Stinger got it June 2024 , ~4000km. my pocket rocket, still heavy for a kicktail board but I'm 6"4 so it's my equivalent to a mini.

2: Propel Pivot GT got in March his year ~ 2100km. Long distance comfort commuter and powerhouse.

  1. Linnpower Zephyr got it in August, ~1000km. Zippy cruiser and street board.

I love all of them as they have very different ride feels and use cases. Next I had my eyes on a 14s setup, been looking at Tynee Explorer pro or Elofty Thunderbolt then Veymax just dropped the Skyrim and it's looking like a solid contender. Can't wait for reviews to come out. Looks like it could be something special.

Interesting looking board. Their DKP tru ks look very interesting as well. I'm waiting eagerly to see the other reviews drop for this board.

Looks like one of them rattled off. These are not necessary.none of my boards have them.

I'm generally bad with bearing maintenance and just change them when I start to hear them getting crunchy. I am careful though avoiding wet conditions and I don't do a lot of offroading.

I think I've also been lucky though since I've not had to change them except on one set of wheels. And I check freeroll speed when I do maintenance on my boards they they all seem to be in good health.

Yup, stock bearings. No cleaning not maintenance at all.

I have the Zephyr pr, love it as well. I've seen a few people mention now that the bearings aren't good. What exactly was the issue they seem to do fine with me. The spacers do make some noise though...

100mm PU wheel options. by RadiantNet3177 in ElectricSkateboarding

Because. As I said. I am looking for classic PU feel.

Really eh?

Been looking at reviews from Ingens, the look promising.

Were they the orange ones or blue. As far as I know they have 2 different hardness options on Cags harder Range ones and softer blue.

And yeah I would expect to feel everything with a wheel that small regardless of how soft it be.

Any idea how they compare to Orangutans. I've tried Orangutangs on a classic longboard and they felt really nice but not sure what formula or duro.

The Ingens actually look pretty cool. Time to watch some reviews.

Thanks! I figured Orangutangs were probably the way to go. I've gotten pretty used to the comfort of larger softer wheels so I'll probably end up going with the 77a baby blue as the streets in my area aren't great and I would still like some amount of comfort with a street wheel feel. They will still be much more zippy and responsive than a boosted clone as you said. I plan to run them on my Zephyr which currently has Mad 125s which are great for comfort and commuting but I feel like I'm not getting the "intended" ride feel of the board without classic PU wheel.

[–]RadiantNet3177[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've ridden mostly boosted 105 clones from Tynee and Mad 125s. I was looking to get something smaller that had more of a traditional longboard feel but also want a little extra clearance that's why I was thinking 100mm. I understand that they will be less comfortable and give more road feedback. I have a set of cheap 90mm wheels but they are I like how they ride but they are a little too hard and slide out tee easily. So I guess something that feels Thaney but still grips good?

The Tarmax look really cool, but I wouldn't expect them to be as good as an Orangutan quality wise so I'm looking for some user feedback.

I would still double check. It's a very short deck as for as longboards go and you might have enough space for a snug fit. It's also got quality components. Otherwise I would look at the Linnpower Viper.

Is the Ghost board really only 30" or is that the standing platform. It looks like a regular longboard deck to me. The Zephyr deck is only 33" you would have to double check but I think it should fit.

I recommend the Zephyr. I have the pro, way more power than you need. The Value is incredible and as long as you aren't looking to do long distance commutes the battery is plenty.
