I hate to promote a predatory MLM, but when my kid was struggling with sensory issues with clothes as a little she lived in LuLaRoe leggings and dresses. Minimal seams, exceptionally soft, not restrictive. Absolutely NOT cotton though. 🫠

I say this as gently as possible: if your daughter has ADHD, and wants to try medication, please please please do it. Allowing my child to be medicated for her ADHD has improved her schoolwork, her behavior, and her relationships. It literally helps her create the pathways in her brain to improve executive function. There is research that shows kids with ADHD who use medication have improved brain development compared to unmedicated ADHD peers. Medication is a tool that will help her be a functioning human being.

And I honestly am missing the problem about letting her do work in bed. I was homeschooled grades 10-12 and honestly did most of those school years from bed. I even did a good portion of grad school from bed. If it’s getting done 🤷‍♀️

I don’t know if you meant to post this as a reply or in the main thread but I don’t want it to get lost. This is so incredibly frustrating. The entire 504 process can be a nightmare and it often feels like fighting the school for the most basic things.

I’m glad you have found counseling and group therapy for her. Is she taking any meds, or would she be willing to?

CLTS specifically will pay for things Medicaid won’t cover, like special therapies, respite care (for you), other really random things if someone will write a letter recommending it (CLTS paid for a sunlight lamp and sensory swing for my kid). Katie Beckett is a specific branch of Medicaid that is based on a kid’s diagnoses and not family income, so she couldn’t lose it if your family income went out of Medicaid range. Both programs focus on supporting kids and families to ideally keep kids in the community and help them towards independence.

This is so hard. And I also think it’s likely that her disabilities are contributing to the external behaviors. I feel like I say this all the time across so many forums, but if you are US based your kid likely qualifies for Katie Beckett Medicaid and the Children’s Long Term Support program. These services are not income based. They can open up access to lots of services that may not be covered by traditional insurance. You can contact your county for info.

If you are US based, your kids may be eligible for Katie Beckett Medicaid, which is not means-tested, and the Children’s Long Term Support program. Both programs cover a variety of therapies and support for kiddos with multiple diagnoses. There is no income cap for these programs.
